okay...so I have a question about posting images and videos so that they show up in my post! how!!!! how!!!! please help?

Very nice! If you are anything like me you will soon have a handmade sheath for everything. My wife is worried that soon we will have sheaths for our silverware. nice job

Great job layton... that is a very good first effort...

As far as posting images... you first have to have them available online, parked somewhere like photobucket.com

click on the image icon on the post menu and enter the image url, real simple.

For embedding video, I think there is a code snipet you get from the youtube site, and just copy and paste... I think... ;)

Again, very nice job...

Good Job on your first piece. i remeber my first before getting hit with the obsessive bug.

i use imageshack to host the picture. upload it to them. you can select the size you want to upload it as. 320x240 or 640x480 are usually the accepted forum pictures. find the direct link press ctrl c (or right click copy). in the comment section click on the post card looking symbol insert your direct link with ctrl v (or right click paste) where it says insert. and voila.

My Grandpa liked my sheath so much he asked me to make one for his knife that he had wrapped in a piece of cardboard... it needs a little TLC too, I put a nice edge on it (not too sharp though, don't need Grandpa to cut himself, it wouldn't take much) and the finger guard could be cleaned up a tad..It'll be real nice for him when it's done.

great sheath. for your first one i would say you did an excellent job.

for the next one, add a "welt" to the sheath. that is a strip of leather that goes inbetween the 2 pieces you are sowing together. that way the knife will not cut through the thread.

Nice sheath!

For Utube vids:

click the share button below the playing vid on your YouTube page
then click options
then check the "long link" checkbox
then click on the address it gives in the little window, it will turn blue
press CTRL + c on your keyboard to copy it
then when you post press CTRL + v to paste it into the post wherever you want it to show up
and finally submit the thread

The vid should show up in the post.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to try that out. I sized this sheath so that the blade would not touch the thread unless I intentionally push it against it. The one I am making for my grandpa is tiny, the blade is about a half an inch wide so I don't have much room to work with, but I'll try a welt just to see if I can do it!

Nice first effort. Keep at it. This can get very addictive. I am working my my third sheath now and drawing plans for my fourth. I need to go pick up some more leather.

here is a pic of the last sheath that i made. i fixed the handle on this knife and made the sheath. i attached a wet stone to the front and added a ferro rod holder.
