If its an older wood bow I would try to do a little research on it first. Take it to a traditional archery shop, have a pro look at it. They can date it and ID the wood and give you ideas for restoring. There also could be safety issues with it if its cracked or has been misused or improperly stored.

They may want to string it at less weight than it was intended, to see how the tension is and if there are any weak spots in it. I would let some one who knows take a look at it first.

They would have lots of tips and suggestions for resurrecting it back to shooting shape. I have been hoping to find just what you have found for years no luck yet.

Proceed with some caution. Some of those old lemonwood longbows are more likely wall hangers these days. Photos would be helpful. Any labels, stickers, emblems, number markings?? If you take to an archery shop realize that unless they have been involved in archery a long time or they have an intersest in older archery stuff they may not know anything about your bow. If you decide to string it work the bow in a little. Draw less than half way mulitiple times several times a day, do that for a couple of days, then start drawing past half way mulitiple times several times a day over several days, then draw to full draw. Listen to the bow while doing so. Don't leave strung between sessions. Hang the bow on a peg or lay flat with back(the flat of the bow that faces away from you) up. You might have a nice old shooter you might have a nice old wall hanger, hard to know at this point.

thanks guys:D i bent it and it seemed realy sturdy so i twisted together 5 pieces of 550 paracord guts(had nothing else on hand)did a couple fancy loop knots in either end and strung it up(im not brand new to all this).i did it pretty loose just to test itno cracks,no discomforting sounds,i think this will be a good shooter:D im super stoked:D:D:D
