Sweetie gave me a 2nd gen Glock 19 for Yule that had been someone's safe queen. :4:

We went to the range last night and put about 200 rounds through it. I'm a happy camper. It nothing special, just a very basic Glock that is in need of a good cleaning now, but it will let me feel safe when I go out on the trail. I'm not really worried about the four legged predators as much as I am about the two legged kind.

Now I have to figure out a holster that will be a comfortable carry when I'm wearing my pack. Any suggestions?

Very nice present. Nothing says peace on earth and goodwill toward men than a glock :4:

A pack and straps would seem to get in the way of shoulder or hip carry. I might be wrong. Drop leg holster maybe?

How very true. :5:

I have found that guys with bad intent will behave better if they know you have the means to refute their unwanted actions. Its all about insuring goodwill isn't?

Nothinghead, mind sharing some of your creations? I'm planning on taking a stab at making my own. For in and around town it will probably be a center of my back carry.

I was looking for carry options with my back and gear. I might go with a Maxpedition Jumbo for day hikes, but then again having the Glock visible is a nice deterrent.

I unfortuanetly have not solved the issue of carrying while carrying a pack. Closest I have come to that is a holster I am designing now to fit into my Mountainsmith Day pack, but it wouldn't work with any other pack.

Here's one I've made:

It sits in my waistband at 5:00 or so and I have since added belt straps and snaps to keep it in place. I wear this one everyday in the house, as that is the only place MD will let you carry.

The pictures of my first one I made seem to have vanished, so I will take more when I get home. It was modeled after a Galco Small of Back, but I got the angles wrong so Old Slabsides' stock prints pretty badly. I also used BLO to color ir and that made it too soft, so I will be making one more SOB and keeping the color natural, and adjusting the angle for the belt loop.

Gen 4 Glock 22 in a Blackhawk thumbdrive, belt or paddle option. I use the belt option as I dont care for the paddle much. I wear this left side at 9 oclock and it does not interfere with my pack.

When I use my belt kit I simply put the belt under the blackhawk, have not any issues yet. I also use a Galco Fletch with my P89. Really solid holster with thumb snap retention, rides high and tight to the body, Galco is a good option also.

My wife and I have used the SuperTuck by Crossbreed Holsters for the last year to conceal carry our Glock 26's. Occasionally, I will carry a Glock 19. The holsters have worked very well for us, we find them to be very comfortable. I do everything with mine and it's so comfortable I forget it's there. Highly recommend for conceal carry.

congrats on your Glock, Aven! dependability IS beauty...to me.
I like a lot of guns, own more than a few, but it's why I carry a Glock daily.

carry options abound, of course... i wish you luck finding a set up you like.

Congrats! That's a good one! I like the 2nd gen because it does not have the finger groves.

Carbonmated -- Just a heads up. Watch out for those belt attachments. I've had mine break twice now(Blackhawk). Unfortunately, I was in a public when It broke and fell off, landing on the ground. No good.

The lady at customer service told me "That happens from time to time"

I love my glock 19. It is my favorite carry and handgun. I made aIWB kydex holster for mine that is not only commfy but makes the gun disappear.

Thanks for the heads up Matt, I generally dislike plastic and I check the belt fittings everytime I put it on. I am looking a the CB supertuck and a crossdraw from galco for my day kit.

I had to do a search to see how they were worn. Didn't realize that the belt loops were actually clips. I'm liking what I see. Thanks.

Please rethink the small of back carry, if you fall on it you risk serious back injury

glock

The Glock 19/23 is an fantastic weapon and perhaps the best when size/weight/capacity/carryability/and shootability. While I prefer my XDm 45 and XD-9 to shoot and put rounds thru, they don't carry as easy as my Glock 19. The midsized Glocks are the total package.

If you intend on packing one of these in the woods or ccw you might want to take an look at the Hill People Gear chest gear bag or runners bag. It would balance out your load when carrying out an pack. I've seen their products in person and am getting ready to order one come payday.

Looks Great, congrats! I strong-side carry my little Beretta in an Uncle Mike's Sidekick and have for years... I love it, after lugging a .45 around everyday in the Army, I don't even notice the Beretta the way it rides in the Sidekick......

Hooah!

Thanks for the great suggestions. I've got them bookmarked and will be mulling them over. I see myself going with a concealed holster and the Runner's Bag from Hill People.

I found the Madpedition Proteus, but I can't find anything for a Colt Proteus-style bag. Have a link?

Thanks for the link and the offer. I may take you up on it at a later day.

I picked up a day pack that I want to see if I can mod into a Hills People's Runner's bag. All the elements are in the pack, I just have to do a bit of tailoring to it, add a maxpedition holster and make it a bit smaller.

Cool gift. Never was a fan of Glocks though. I prefer steel and wood. Enjoy.
