Wanted to start to start the new year off in the right direction, so we got the boys all suited up, grabbed the dog, and headed out into the woods.

The New Year's Day menu consisted of Bannock, sausages:36:, bacon:36:, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and marshmallows.

The boys did well out there today: We made a game of how to use their signal whistles if they become lost.

Here's Kirsten slicing up some bannock and sausages with her tactical girly pink ESEE Izula.

Thanks for taking us along! So are you an American in Norway or a Norwegian in New York? And is this Norway or New york? I'm easily confused! :)

I'm an American living in Norway. Been living here a little over ten years now. These shots are taken in the woods behind my house. The area is called Østmarka (urst-mark-uh), and we're about a 30km drive from Oslo.

Good stuff brother, glad you got out. Great looking family you've got there!

Fantastic. Looks like it was a great family outing. Everyone will remember these kinds of things long after the other Christmas presents are long gone. Family memories that will last a life time. maybe even for generations to come.

Happy New Year from Canada.

P.S. We had RAIN RAIN RAIN. mixed with some wind. It made for a damp miserable day.

My boys and I got out yesterday and today, great to see others making this a family affair. Thanks for sharing and send us some of that snow!

Looks like great fun! Great idea to have the little ones practice with their emergency whistles!

Time in the bush with family=memories for a lifetime, thanks for sharing your pics.

Good job dad. Those are times that everyone will remember. Thanks for sharing. I never forget the good times I had with my dad.

Looks like you guys had a good time out there.
Thanks for sharing! :)

My girls started out at that age. The youngest is 34, bowhunts and dresses her own elk.
Good ground work, Dad!

Good stuff, man. Glad you and the family got some time out.

What a nice family outing! If more family's did exactly these type trips we all would be better off! Keep it up!

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. I try to take my boys out there as often as possible. They're 2 and almost 6, and already very comfortable out in the woods. The older one even likes Ray Mears:50:.

That's awsome. I just got my older boy a bow for Christmas. I finally found one that was a good weight for him in Sweden and snatched it up. He's already sticking them in the target from about 3 meters after only a couple of sessions.
