Got this recently. Guess it's swiss? not sure, really well made item and I assume 70's or so. Thought the GF would like it but went ewwwwww. Can't win sometimes.

I think it awesome! I have about 10-20 Vintage German and Ski touring patches that would be right at home on that pack! How much does it hold?

I need to rig a drawstring and cord lock to really tell, since the girlfriend didn't like it it's been kinda sitting. Think it's more a kids/teen/scout pack from the looks of it. It's good size though the exterior pouch is kinda smallish, why I think it's a kids pack.

econnofoot - that pack looks like the ones basically "everyone" had on the streets and public parks of Germany in the 80's.

Conngrats - looks in great shape and a cool piece of history.

problem is I don't have a use for it :( might go to ye old trade blanket....

Those are very nice old bags. I'm guessing that yours has the vertical aluminum stays and the pre-stressed kidney band. Similar bags were made by a number of European manufacturers and they all seemed to use the same shade of blue canvas. My Dad had one made by Mammut in France, . His was purchased in the early 70's and had leather straps and a heavy vinyl bottom and trim. Boy, it's hard to imagine how we EVER got along before the invention of Cordura nylon!

I have a small blue one too. It's a Norwegian Bergans. It has a frame which surprises me for it's size. I too also believe these to be school packs for carrying books.
