Got out in the drizzle for a bit this weekend and inspired by Iz's weak hand split wood fire, I decided to try a lean-to exercise using a space/casualty blanket. Same principle would apply to a MEST or other similar shelter. I used IA Woodsman's method of toggles on the ridgeline and taunt line hitches at the ridgeline (one end in this case) and at the ground stakes. Total time including moving the camera around was about 12 minutes start to finish. Good exercise and nice to get out.

Gave up on trying to embed from Vimeo. Had some youtube issues with this vid, so I hosted it on Vimeo. It's safe, no midgets in suitcases or anything, I swear. :D

Nice work. I don't even think I can tie those knots correctly with two hands... >.<

Out of curiosity, what did you spread out on the ground to cover it before you laid down at the end?

Knots just take practice.

It was a poncho I use as a sit pad/ground cloth.
