myself and hiker41 hooked saturday up for an overhighter on wayne N.f. well the weather forecast was calling for 100% chance of rain all day and night. we kept going back and forth on whether to cancel the trip or just go and and deal with the rain. we both decided saturday morning to go, we thought what better way to test are tents, gear, and our fire prep in windy wet conditions.
hikers41 kelty
my Coleman Helios
hiker brought a 20'x 8' tarp to keep our gear dry.
using his becker
working on his bushclass electives
lunch
found 2 trees full of fatwood
prepping the fire
some fatwood on the fire we just found
hikers soup for dinner
i threw on 2 turkey pot pies on the grill for dinner
rain turned into snow at night
heating a pot of water for coffee
woke up to sunny skies
breakfast on the coals, scrambled eggs and Kielbasa
over all we had a great time, hiker knocked out some bushcraft classes, i finally got to set up the iron grill i got from donk, found a bunch of fatwood. we actually got lucky on the rain, we avoided the real heavy stuff and it even turned into a few snow showers for a little while. hopefully bill can add his pics a little later on. thanks for looking
