Hi folks, well i have this weekend off work, and have a family party tonight :beerchug:,so i thought i would get a night out under the stars last night.
I left about 10 yesterday morning after getting my gear together.
It was also a chance to test my Cech army bed roll, that the kids got me for xmas, and to road test my new GB mini hatchet.

Well i got to my spot and gathered wood for my raised bed and fire reflector, plus enough wood to keep me going all night. I just used my tarp as a shelter.

A shot of the reflector and my fire ready to light.

And another but with my pot hanger more in the frame.

And a view to see behind the reflector.

Well it was dark when i lit the fire, which i used to boil the billie.

Later i re-arranged the fire lay,i made a long log fire, and lowered my tarp to catch the heat.
Re-arranged fire.

Well it was comfy all night, but the temp got down to minus 10,and a very hard frost greeted me this morning.
I recieved a text off the wife early doors asking if i was ok .

Well it was good even if it was just for the one night.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers Stuart.

that's pretty awesome - congrats!

I bet the text shocked ya, huh? ten below....that's cold for a cell.... (or me!)

Very nice, it looked like you had fun.. but too cold for me! lol. Your cell phone must have been frozen I would think wow. I still havent gone on my first overnighter yet, I'm going to wait for spring so I can take my two boys ages 10 and 8 with me. They love backpacking and bushcraft, we also mix in Geocaching. Thanks for sharing your trip and the photos. Take care.

Nice set up you have going. Glad you made it out and thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks folks. Heres the bed roll i used, its a Cech army one.
I also added another wool blanket, and i use a cheap inflatable pillow and a three quater self inflating mat.

Looking at your raised bed made my back hurt. Would a thermarest smooth that out enough not to feel those saplings? I want to try a stuff-it-myself insulation bed the next time.

Hi TP,i just used the mat as i did'nt want to cut green browse for an overnighter.
I have used browse beds before though, and they are very comfy.
