penny knives are cool. Been wanting to make one for years. A opinal is pretty close to a penny knife.

I made a new handle for my Opinel on a lathe, just transplanted the hardware from the old handle onto the new one. It would be fun to try this from scratch, perhaps cut the blade from a Green River or Old Hickory. I'll add this to my ever-growing list of projects

Did you happen to take any pictures of it? I thought bout doing that to only downside no lathe for me LOL
Unfortunately no, but it could be done without a lathe, it would just take a little more work getting the part where the collar sits to be nicely round. Honestly the most difficult part was cutting the slot for the blade to fit, not just at the collar, but throughout the handle. For this I traced a line down the handle, then used a Dremel with a heavy-duty cut-off wheel to carve out the area. It works well, just takes a steady hand.
