Sweeneyguy and I went out on the day after christmas. I stayed one night and sweeney stayed an extra night to do his solo overnighter. We had a good time.

We each used our 10x10 and 5x7 to make a circular shelter. It had an opening on one end. We stacked the logs for the long fire on ether end under the 5x7 tarps and kept our gear and ourselves under the 10x10 tarps, which we attached reflector blankets to.

Here are a few pictures. The last two are pictures Sweeney sent me from the phone after I was gone.

Yes, It is nice to be able to get out of the house. I still can't operate an axe or anything, but I'm able to tie knots again with a little perseverance, which is a good thing! I still made Sweeney carry all the heavy logs back to camp :18:

Since there are so many pictures of the fire, we have to assume it was really cold! :)

Thanks for sharing your outing.

Scott

It was cool, somewhere around low 30s high 20s I think. The shelters were 70deg inside at times, longfires and reflectors are awesome :) It was fine the day that I was there, not too windy or anything. The next day though, temps dropped and a lot of rain fell plus 10-20mph winds... Poor Sweeneyguy....

Very nice, quite the cozy camp! Looks like lots of bushcraft being put to use too, I see some tarp frames, a pot hanger, bough beds, carved stakes - good stuff guys :)

Looks like a good time! Hope sweeny stayed dry, it really poured here. Im planning a little trip north this weekend.

Glad you guys got out, glad to hear you are healing up. Did they give you an estimate when your arm will be back to normal if all continues to go well?

I heard from him earlier. He stayed dry.

Let me know if you want company this weekend.

Thank you. Middle to late February I should be able to go back to work. But, they already changed that from late January, so, I'm not too sure.

Good to see you are back out there! I am still months away from being cleared for anything off pavement. It's driving me NUTS. I got a canteen cup lid for Christmas I want to test. Looks like I'm building a fire in the front yard.

I'll post up some good video when it's done processing.

It was a great time. The first night was long. It got dark around 430. We sat around making food and coffee. Listening to nothing. It was erie, No sound at all.

The rain was crazy last night but that shelter was tight. A little spray when the wind whipped around. The worst part was the smoke. It just didn't matter where the wind came from it always came in? The wind shifted through out the night coming from all directions. The cold air kept the smoke low.

Nice outing guys.
Matt nice to see you getting back up and into it.
Keep it up, you got it whipped.
Regards and Happy New Year.
