Any constructive criticism, or just compliments are welcome!
Thanks for reading
Pugs.

Any comments on what I have packed? Possibly suggestions for changing out items for more useful ones?

Maybe you could get the kitchen sink in there!:4:
Think that is all your missing.

Whats your plans for water (carrying, filtration) what about cooking gear? It looks like your only carrying a tarp? I would suggest at least a wool blanket to go with that.

Looks good to me.If you have room, might want to add
a cooking pot of some kind.

Canteen, and hydration packs ( or more canteens) Cooking is the canteen cup, and there is a light 40% wool blanket for warmer weather, and a bigger 60% one to use with it in the cold. Filtration will be through a bandanna, and then either boiled, or use a iodine tablet.

I'd still drop the clothesline for a good length of bankline...

I don't want you thinking I'm attacking
you, just trying to understand your train of thought... I don't mind sharing my pack contents if you'd like... I just didn't want to jack your thread.

Another thing on the p.cord... I carry a few small lengths... 2-3' n shorter that I use on reoccurring tasks... Keeps me out of my 100' stock... Which i have cut down to 25' sections.

No I agree! I just have to go get bankline, until then it's clothesline. I like your idea for the precut sections for the parachord!

My short lengths have loops tied in each end for easy hanging on branches and such... For camp trips I can hang my 100oz water bladder to a small tree or limb for instance.

It's not a bad start. I'd replace the TP tinder for tinder-quick tabs or one bottle with cotton balls and PJ. You have a lot of bottles and metal containers, organization is good, but consider how much weight the containers contribute.I might think about replacing a lot of those with heavy ziplock bags and save some weight. Also you'd have bags handy to store water if needed, add a straw or light metal tube which you could use to direct air on embers...

My thoughts anyway...

A few items sprang to my mind:

Several each quart n gallon ziplocs. Gather bags, temporary water storage n the reverse: keepin water off stuff. Generic tend to have better closures. Brand name tends to be thicker. Think about what you mostly use it for n make up your own mind. :]

Styptic Powder. (Stops bleeding) Go to the horse section. Around here it's $5 for a container of it. Human container is 1/2oz, dog is 5oz, horse is 16oz. Each is $5. I've used 'em all on me n several dogs.

Super Glue n some Nail Polish Remover. Put each in a pill bottle or tin, they have the nasty habit of bustin open in my pack. Again, used several brands on me n several dogs. Make sure where you're applying the glue is DRY n ya leave a lil opening for drainage. Not such a big deal for you since you have butterflies n can make more from duct tape.

As to compliments, well you get the highest one I can give: If we found ourselves stranded on an island, I'd make sure I grabbed your pack before I used you as shark bait! :O ROFL

I think I will keep some of those containers, atleast 2 of the altoids tins, and I don't know how many of the pill bottles. A metal tube for embers is a great idea, and the same for the ziploc bags, thanks!

I'm transfering most of my items into baggies now, thanks for the heads up on the powder and glue! I will have to go to tractor supply to pick some up!

I'd swap out the gerber spring assist knife for a large full tang fixed blade knife (5-6" or so.)

+1 on the ziplock bags... For ruff use bags like my fire kit I use a canvas zippered pencil pouch. It keeps tinder dry and most of my fire starting gear in one bag.

Think of your pack as an extension of yourself. Pack the necessary essentials on your person. (things that you'd need the most.) and all the rest in your pack...

Hey buddy. Is this kit for bushcraft or a long term type bugout/survival scenario? I like your kit man.

I would put some more focus on your sleep/shelter system. Too little importance is put on a good night sleep in adverse weather conditions.

I might leave out the ammo and traps. It looks like you have quite a nice selection of food to choose from in the meantime.

Hope this is constructive brother! : )

Unless I missed it in your lists, you need a headlamp or flashlight of some kind and spare batteries. I also did not see any beef jerky or sunflower seeds. Sheesh im never going anywhere with you...... lol

Looks like a good start, like a few others said, shelter is paramount. Hammock and 2 tarps for me. Firesteels are a must for me along with fatwood

Have to hand it to you, you're playin some heads up ball for a young'un n a noob. Fielded the questions real well too.

Me, I almost died several times in the bush before I woke up n got into 'shcraftin. Yea God is all I can say.

Hats off to BBT for helpin ya out. Excellent show BTW.

Dunno bout Ohio but bout the only place to get bankline in 'sconsin is Bass Pro. If you don't like the smell of the tarred there's untarred bankline, decoy line, seine line n masons line.

BTW, if the outer sheath of the clothsline is 100% cotton it makes great char after you "milk" the inner strands out. You can still use the ISs as cordage.

As others have mentioned, some cookware would help you cover more possibilities. I put together what is effectively an all SS 14cm Zebra for $5 from thrift stores. Bein me, I did that after buyin a 12cm Zebra n a GSI Glacier Teakettle. :]

I found some 16oz n 32oz wide mouth Nalgenes for 49 cents n 99 cents respectively at thrift stores n rummages. Not just darn near unbreakable, I love that I can put boiling water in 'em n let Tea, Ramens, pouch meals (not just MREs, there's great Asian n Indian meals out there now.) or whatnot cook or heat while I hike. I use 3-4qts/day between drinkin while hikin n cookin. Another qt/day for washin up. YMMV.

You got places to get some dirt time lined up? Don't be ashamed to practice in the basement, backyard or local park before hittin the wilds. Most of us have n many still do, self included.

It's a bit of both! what is in the pack is a summer sleeping system, I have a separate messengers bag with more insulating sleeping gear for winter. I am currently looking for, or looking to make straps to hold a sleeping bag that I can lace into the provided loops under the bag.

yep, got a place all lined up to camp at, I have been looking for bottles at the thriftstore, but i seem to keep walking away with canteens :17: I just love how well they work, i will admit that the narrow mouth is a pain sometimes, but I like how they hook onto my pack. I will keep my peepers open for some nalgenes though. I may just order some bankline online and play around with it some, i see it mentioned a great deal. I have a few camping pots, and even had a messkit somewhere, but the few pots i have left are more for car camping than shoving in a ruck.
