Could someone provide me with a link to a knife makers "center line" scribe tool? I don't even know what the name of this tool is but I know I have seen it. Small precision caliper type device with a carbide tip that etches a guide line for edge location. I have been using drill bits but they are not as accurate.

Thanks for any help you can provide.:4:

take a drill bit the same size as your stock and use the backside as a scribe..

color the edge with a sharpie, lay both knife and bit on a plane/level surface, take the bit and run it along the edge, flip knife over and do the same...

you should be left with two lines with a space in the middle the size of a dime..

just thought I'd throw that out there incase you didn't want to buy one..

This is the one I prefer:

It's more expensive but, for me anyway, seems to work better. I just run a scribe line from each side.

I also have and use this type:

That one doesn't work as well for me. It won't scribe out by the tip since both of the "tabs" have to be touching the blade for it to work.

I've used the drill bit method too. It works okay but I do understand wanting a dedicated scribe.
