Some how it got water logged in my neighbors horse trough, it was soaked, couldn't fly and was hyperthermic, it was very lethargic and let me pick him up, I put him in a towel and then in a basket, covered him with a wool blanket and placed a heater in the room. A couple of hours later he was still pretty lethargic but before I went to sleep he was standing up.

In the morning I checked on him and he was beautiful in his hawkness, a Powerful bird of prey. He looked at me and I covered him back up, took him out side and pulled the blanket, he flew to the small wood pile about 15 feet away looked at me for a minute then took off. Twice today he skreetched at me, once on the fly the later from a perch in one of my pecan trees.

Birds have some kind of an attraction to me, this is the second hawk I've rescued in my life, the first one would follow me around the park I worked at and on occasion I could put out my arm and he would fly to me, this went on for two seasons, after that he would just follow me around. I've had birds land on my head, fly right to my feet and have rescued many others. I guess about 30 in my life time. I've never understood this, family and a few friends have seen this happen and have guessed at all kinds of crazy reasons but I have no idea why this happens.

Wierd ain't it.

Yeah, birds, it's crazy, I guess something about me doesn't scare them. We had an Orange Wing Amazon for a while that attacked anyone who tried to touch it but it never screwed with me, it was given to me for that reason.

Thats great that you saved the hawk. Maybe in a past life you were the Bird man of Alcatraz & thats why they flock to you! All puns intended:4:

A nice experience gifted to you.Any idea on who he was? (type)
I too have had a few decent experiences with hawks. So much so that I started reading and collecting books on Falconry.Amazing stuff
Thatnks for sharing

Red Tailed Hawk, we have a pair on the property, I see them often. It was his mate that rouse the alarm, she was circling and screeching, my neighbor initially found him and called me over.

In Yellowstone, they would have let it die. Calling it "letting nature take it's course". I call it disconnect. Seperating ourselves from our place in the natural world... stewards of the land.

ok. Hippie tree hugging moment over. Carry on.

Very cool Hush. We've got a couple of hawks in our neighborhood that keep landing in our yard or on our fence. They're very fun to watch.

That is cool.
I have that same thing happen to me with mosquitoes. They love me! They'll come fly down and feed right off my arm, my neck, etc. I attract swarms of them! :D

No really, I think that says loads about how peaceful and trustworthy you are. I admire and respect that tremendously.

I have a nesting pair of Red Shouldered Hawks around my place. Yesterday, the two of them were sitting high up on a Pine limb, waiting to take a squirrel. As I took the picture, the female darted off, but I got a good pic of the old man.

We went up to the farm for a long weekend then rode the bikes to Daytona for that insainity. The workshop is looking great and my little buddy spotted me in the field and swung by to screech at me a bit.

Is that the shop on the bottom? Holy Cow! Looks like an office. :dblthumb:

Yeah, it's my office that leads into the wood working part of the shop. I need a clean room for gluing up instruments, doing set ups and final assembly. I also need a place to store my tone woods, eventually this one room will be air-conditioned.

Before, no front door or barn doors

Hush that sure is coming along nicely. When I get my engine put back together I would love to ride up to check out the property. Maybe you could loan me 2 trees for my hammock :)

The Bumbling Hawk? Goes down for a drink in a horse trough and almost kills itself?

Does Dr. DoLittle know about this?

Dam, you sure do carve some might fine motos!

Carbonmated, any time brother.

WoodsJack, yeah the hawk screwed up, some times we gotta look out for each other.

I personally don't do much in the way of motor work, I've been kept busy doing leather work, I also work in metal, glass, inlay, clay, fibers, got caught up in the crazy chopper scene a few years back and was enlisted by my close friend and motorcycle mechanic to tool custom seats, even did one for Choppers Inc. up in Melborne, FL.

There will be bike builds as well as ratrod type projects going on in the open bay areas of the shop.

The purpose of my new shop is to allow my friends to have a place to learn, teach, swap and generally be inspired to create, or just hang around if they chose.

That FXST you see in the pictures I've been riding for 28 years, I have an '06 Roadglide I ride too.

VERY cool. Wish we were closer neighbors. Mighty nice setup.

Got my first Harley last summer. Rode everything else for 40-odd years.

Good on ya', re: the hawk. I once did similar for cat-mawled dove.
