I normally wear Wrangler carpenter jeans or cargo pants and have had good luck with them wearing well and cost less than $20, I've blown out the knees and seat of 2 pair of cargo pants that are about 5 years old and decided it's time to replace them. I'll admit I'm a creature of habit and don't often change once I find something that works, but I spotted some Riggs Ripstop by Wrangler pants http://www.wrangler.com/store/WRG_WESTERN_STORE_US/en_US/style/3w060.html at a local department store a few weeks ago and thought they looked like nice pants. The asking price of $39 was a little steep considering I could buy 2 pair of my regular pants for that price. Last night I noticed they were on sale for $29 and decided for that price I'd take a gamble. Anybody else wear Riggs, I'm wondering if I should go pick up a second pair while they are still on sale?

I have 2 pair that I got on sale for $28 a pair. I love them. I wear them all the time, they are comfortable, lots of pockets and wear well so far.

I've worn them quite a bit for outdoors use around here. They've lasted a few years now and have plenty of use left in them. My girlfriend also wears them for work - she's a survey archaeologist, which entails a LOT of hiking through rough terrain, often through places with a lot of cactus & bramble. She's gotten a lot of mileage out of them and overall has been pretty happy with them. Hope that helps.

I have a pair I have been wearing most of this fall and into winter and I love 'em. Glad to hear they are on sale, I will be getting another pair. Very rugged. I like the cargo pockets, tough and roomy.

I own several pairs. I really like the reenforced pocket top. I wear out alot of pants form edc my folder with a clip. They have held up well for me.

What materials are they made of?

Thanks,

Geoff

Cotton with a ripstop weave, the back pockets are lined with cordura and the front right pocket has a leather-like patch where a tape measure or knife clip would sit.

I have found them on Amazon for 30 bucks free shipping Only complaint I have (nothing to do with quality) is they don't come in a left handed model.

I've got a pair...I can't stand them...mainly due to the length of the inseam. I absolutely hate walking on the back of my pants leg...and with these having the "boot" cut size lower leg opening...they fall over the back of my boots and I thus walk on them. Most of you will say...get a size that fits...well...when you're short and round like I am...finding a 28" inseam is not always easy...and having them hemmed is not worth the money as the higher you go on the leg...the bigger the opening gets. Other than that...the pants wore fine and seem to be made well.

Amen on the short inseam alex30808. It's hard to find 28" inseams in any waist size over 30" or so, and it costs almost as much as buying the jeans to have someone shorten and hem them.

I am a tree climber.
Thier the best bang for the buck imo.
Have had many a pair, and want more. When they get wet they dry quickly, and they are sturdy. I would say the material is like poplin (I don't know how to spell it.) Fatigues.
Maybe make sure YOU like them. That's a great deal.

They are my favorite pants that I own. I get upset when they are all dirty and I have to go back to jeans. You can also fit a small knee pad inside the reinforced knee. They fit me great but I am over 6 feet so inseam is no issue. I also like the fact that the cargo pockets sit flat and don't flare to the front so they don't snag on things. Well thought out clothing, in short, I love em.

Exactly!!! And if you shorten a "boot cut" pants leg...the "Boot cut" gets even bigger! Carhart pants are the same way with me...no matter how bad I want to like them, no matter how bad I want to wear them...they just don't fit!

At least you guys with short inseams have an option to get them tailored.
It would be nice if there were more options with people with longer legs.
I wear a 38" inseam!

I'm not a fan of 100% cotton. It fades, rots, and falls apart to easy.
I have been wearing these Tactical pants for a while and really like them. Their 35 cotton 65 poly ripstop and are tuff as hell. They call the fabric battle rip. I bought them for $29.00 and they have gone up to $39.00. At this price are still the cheapest in this class of tactical pant. Comes with a free matching web belt worth around 10 bucks.

Nice looking pants. what store did you find them in on sale?
All the stores around here sell are regular Carhart and Wrangler jeans, haven't seen any Riggs.

They're about all that I wear anymore (I've got 5 or 6 pair total in 3 colors) and I get them either at TSC when they're on sale or on-line (if a sale is on and I get free shipping). I also like the Riggs rip-stop carpenter pants and have a couple pair of them (both khaki) - they look a bit more low-key with no cargo pockets...

I bought some similar Wrangler product in ripstop at our local Olies when it opened were like 9 bucks, so far so good.

I found them at a local store called Bi-Mart, I'm not sure if it's large enough to be called a department store, it's more like a rite-aid with the sporting goods section from a wal-mart bolted on. I love that store, my wife hates it...

I thought I'd gotten the cargo pants, but I got the carpenter pants. I've been wearing them for a few hours and nobody's commented on them yet, so they pass my litmus test. The fabric feels a little different next to my skin, it doesn't insulate as much as cotton denim or twill.

Sweeeeet

Ive been hunting a better cargo...didnt want carhartt...nothing against them, i just like more bdu looking stuff. Thanks for the heads up

Are theses pants true to size or a bit roomy? Do they require a break in period? Any store in particular that carry the pants?
