Forgive me if this was already posted. This is the first time I have seen this. They finally did it! They made a scout rifle for their American line of rifles. I didn’t see an MSRP but if it’s priced like their other offerings this should be great! Honestly, I couldn’t care less about the scout rail. I’m mostly excited about the iron sights. This looks promising.

The Ruger ad at the link specifies an “AI-type” 5-rd magazine as opposed to, say, the SR-25 pattern magazine (.308-length), such as MagPul makes.

Other than Ruger, anyone know what aftermarket mag-maker offers AI-type mags for this rifle?

Magpul make AICS mags.

I'm pretty sure MagPul makes an AI pattern mag also! It would be cool if it used SR-25 mags seeing as I have a couple dozen of those already but since I'm still scarred by AWB '94 I always buy at least a dozen mags for most every rifle anyway and keep six in the wrapper for hard times/my heirs(which usually give me hard times🤣). I'm going by my dealer Monday and getting one of these on the "want" list!

I've had various reasons for not grabbing one of the Scout iterations over the years (still regret not getting a Steyr), but I'm seriously considering this one. Not thrilled with the magazine choice and they recessed the wrong sling swivel but I could live with it.

Anyone know which distributor these are exclusive to?

I'd prefer it in plain old black rather than the multi-color metal / camo stock combo, and I'm not entirely sold on the tang safety. Overall I like it.
Tang safety’s are my favorite. So intuitive. Maybe it’s because I’ve shot mossberg shotguns a ton, but if I had my choice of safety that’s what’d I’d take 10/10 times.

I like it. Rail isnt my thing but looks removeable. Hope they have other calibers. 308 is a great round but too much recoil for me. I dont need more than 5.56.

I would love to have one of those in one of the 6.5 calibers…

If I were to buy another rifle, this would be it! It is everything my Savage Hog Hunter isn't. They need to expand their caliber selection.

I never saw the slightest use for a 'scout rifle'. I have two Ruger American Ranch Rifles, one in .223 and the other in 7.62x39. Both are scoped, and both are proven game killers. Scope is in the normal, and correct position, over the action. lol

Ye gods but that is ugly. I've always thought the Ruger Frontier was a near-perfect scout rifle, which is probably why production ended so quickly.

Not so much into scout scopes either, you could still mount a conventional scope. I like the removable mag, stiff barrel, threaded barrel, paddle trigger, recoil pad, decent aperture sights, worry free stock, tang safety, all in a compact package....ready for my suppressor.

...nicely appointed rifle...

A standard eye relief 1.5-5 Leupold would fit right on there in low QD rings. With that Monte Carlo stock the line of sight height looks perfect.

Have several "scout" style rifles with the Leupold M8-2X and Burris 2-7 IER scopes. They work for me...
