My next gun. This week I hope. Will it make sounds like yours? LOL

What are the grips made of? The video was a litte too dark to see. Thanks for the test;looks like a great pal for the woods.

You know, I'm not a big pistol person. But This is one I would have no problem strapping on my hip for outings.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) the grips on the 60th anniversary are cocobola.

love my single 6!
slightly OT, but: even though the Heritage Rough Rider looks very similar, the fit, finish, & QC are not even close to being in the same class. (just in case someone was looking at both and wondering about the price difference)

You get what you pay for......it's just a few bucks more to go first class.

Years ago, i was the one looking at prices first, then seeing what it was....
Afterwards thinking to my self....I wish I would have just sucked it up and went for quaility to start with.

Then bought the better firearm later....not such a good deal when you have to do it twice.

I just got to shoot my new-to-me Single-Six this weekend. I think it's my new favorite gun. Mine is a .22lr / .22wmr convertible. Man oh man, i think I really love the feel of that .22 magnum!

Just picked one up last week after years without one, it's the standard 6 5/8 stainless. Ordered a chest rig from Simply Rugged Holsters to wear it on the 4 wheeler. Great revolvers, really like running the magnums in mine. Hope you get a lot of fun from yours........Uncas

I really like my Single-Six! It is the new model, and I bought it used in 1978. It is very accurate, even with .22 short. I have the magnum cylinder, but have only used that ammo a few times. The Single-Six is deadly for coons, 'possums and skunks around the farm , and it is fun for plinking.

Yeah the magnum rounds have a surprising amount of additional oomph over a .22LR.

has anyone heard anything about the single six that can shoot the magnum rounds has to have a slightly larger barrel for the magnum rounds because they are .224 whereas the 22lr is .222? but some have said that the lead expands enough to make it negotiable?

All the 22 Single Sixes we've seen (that I recall anyway) have a .224 groove diameter. The 22lr is .221-.222 but generally shoots.pretty well regardless. The biggest problem with the LR cylinders is that they don't have real throats in them, and the factory headspaces the cylinders with the cylinder bearing against the standing breech. Doesn't give a whole lot of wiggle room.

The Ruger Single Six is one of my longest owned and most used firearms. It is the workhorse of my collection. No other gun has fired as many shots or taken as much game/vermin/varmints.

Those that believe a Single Six is a slow shooting gun ain't never seen a eleven year old boy get through a bulk 550 pack shooting cans and paper targets. Truly an impressive feat and I'll wager that sometime during that fusillade that kid will become quite proficient and it will spark an enthusiasm for shooting that will last a lifetime.

Great guns!

My wife handpicked the prettiest cocobolo gripped commemorative blued 4" SS for my Christmas some years back. It had a fixed sight - and was nearly 2" off (.5+" L & 1.5+" H) at 15-20 yd from sand bags with Federal Gameshok (.22LR). It didn't group as well and was higher with the .22 WMR cylinder and MaxiMags. I sold it within a month. If it had adjustable sights, I would have kept it - but I can't take a fixed sight gun being that far off.

Is the reviewed SS in SS or blued? It's hard to tell in the video. The adjustable sights make that revolver. I, too, wanted a .22 WMR revolver - and lucked into a nice ANIB S&W 4" 651 last fall. Of course, it is DA capable, too - and I like that. It was a little more than that SS, $550 vs $400, but it turned out that my Jeep made it through a few more months on it's 'may-pops' just fine - and I had a .22 WMR revolver! I also found three new HKS #51-J speedloaders, too - not at any lgs - Amazon! Shocker. If that SS my wife had bought me years ago had been closer - or had adjustable sights - I'd likely still have it. They look nice now.

...as a 16 year old budding nature photographer, I climbed a helock to get up close photos of a porcipine; well, he didn't like my sharing his branch and charged; my S6 sounded like a gatling gun! It was stupid, but memorable.

My dad bought me one of these for Christmas when I was 17 in about 1981. In have had it ever since it has been with me over a mountain or two. I would never part with it. I am sure they are all today that they were 30 years ago!!!

What year did you get yours? Looks about as saddle worn as mine. Mine has lots of dimple on the back of the .22 LR cylinder . Stupid teenager trying to fan it like John W. I've grown up a little now

I don't remember the year but it's an 80's vintage.
