Well it happened. The SAK I have carried around since I was a whipper-snapper was stolen from my shelf at work. All the years I have kept it sharpened and maintained. Thanks for the years of service and putting up with the abuse I gave you as a teenager (I blame it on hormones).

May you stay sharp as you slice a nice slab of meat from the thief's hand.

Sadly missed but not forgotten :17:

Paul.

ps. Take care of your knives folks and never let them out of your sight. You never know when some useless so-and-so will take a fancy to it.

I don't want to wish bad juju on anyone...but that really bites, man.

sorry Paul. Maybe they wil grow a pair and return it.

Perhaps who ever took it will be stupid enough to use it at work and you can beat them like a harp seal and get it back :)

Just a thought :54:

It was wrong that it was taken, particularly without permission.(in other words...Stolen)
Perhaps it was "borrowed" & not returned by "mistake".
Regardless, maybe if you were to put a note where the knife was placed, (or on an workplace Notice/Bulletin board), saying you would like it "returned, with no questions asked". It may prompt the culprit to return it.At least it may be worth a try. It would be nice to see it returned. If the person who took it, is embarrassed by taking without permission & he/she would then have a chance to make things right, by its' return..
I would hope that this is the case & not an outright theft.
I hope you get your knife back.

I had a Leatherman charge stolen right off my desk at a job a couple of years ago. I know how frustrating it can be. Sorry to hear this happened.

well look at the bright side you can shop for a replacement.

That is sure a way to ruin your day. Hope it was just borrowed. I think we now live in a world where the younger generations believe entitled to have what ever they want whether it there's or not very sad.

That stinks!
Here's what you do, send out an email about your knife being gone and wanting it back due to the special meaning. Buy one just like it and say in the email you will put it in a certain place and tell them to take the new one and leave the old one. You're going to probably buy another one anyways so this way you atleast get the one you treasure. This worked for a friend of mine when he had a family heirloom stolen. No matter what I hope you get it back somehow.

Sorry to hear that.

Edit:Never-mind, I just read Outdoor Envy's post...

I'm not sure how many people you work with, but, you could always buy a new sak. Bring it to work and tell everyone your story, one on one. The show them the new SAK and tell them that you would gladly give the new one to whomever returned your old one, and that it will be on the same part of the shelf where the other one walked from.

Then if they steal that one, find out who did it and smash 'em. ;)

I know the feeling, man.
My "USMC" knife was stolen at work.
Sorry to hear this.

UGH. What a pisser, but, sadly, these episodes don't surprise me anymore.

I want to believe in karma!!! I envision this guy cutting his femoral artery carving himself a butt plug or crack pipe. I see him slipping and stabbing himself in the eye while walking and trimming his fingernails with your knife.

Reality is, some people just get away with stuff and we have to know (at least I beleive) that we will each have to stand up and answer for our bad deeds. Like others have said, you get the pleasure of buying yourself a new knife!

I like the suggestion of anonymously returning it though. Maybe that person will have a flash conscience.

Sorry to hear about your knife - I'm sure it's nothing to do with the cost and everything to do with sentimental value, too. Hope you get it back.

i feel your pain. i have lost or broke most of the knives i was given as a child. i do have the first sak i bought myself when i was 16. and i miss my first leatherman i was given it was stolen about 16 years ago out of my car and i have never been able to find another i could afford when i have had any money. well perhaps it will show up again you can always hope.

My dad always told me there was nothing worse than a thief, epsecily from within the ranks. Quickest way to sow mistrust without getting bloody. I'm really sorry to hear you have a thief at work..

I really liked the idea that some had about offering a new, not sentimental, SAK in exchange. I won't lie, my first reaction was a fair bit more insidious.

Sorry to hear that Paul! :(
Hope you'll get it back somehow.
