I am wondering if this rifle would be worth buying. It has a clean hexagon shaped barrel and the firing mechanism is there. No stock at all and the parts to the feed tube are missing.

I don't know a price but am thinking it might be worth the barrel alone I didn't see a date on it. found it at the Syracuse antique show at the fairgrounds.

I knew I should have taken a picture...

Unless it is really cheap, an incomplete 22 rifle is seldom worth much, other than as a parts source. The collectors want an all original gun, and the shooters want a fully functional gun. This is more of a project gun- if you get it cheap enough to make it worthwhile trying to restore it.

Are parts available? I don't know how popular savage 22's are. Guy had a box of "JUNK" parts from different guns. no two alike. I'll leave it to someone that might already have a savage, maybe with a rusted barrel or something.

Looking at Numrich, the parts for older Savage 22's are going for a premium...some more than a new rifle. Get the model number if you can and search what you think will take to get it working. One barrel listed on there for 227.95 and is out of stock. I'm presuming it to be a pump. Make sure the tube is not bent as they didn't show many in stock.

I'd be leery until I knew what I was up against.

Numrich and other parts houses have some parts for some models.
A lot depends on the specific model , which we don't know on this one.

Look for an older 22 rifle- bolt gun- by Remington, Savage, or Marlin, in the gun shops or at gun shows. A good shooter can usually be had for around $100 , maybe less if the finish is pretty worn off.
