I had been so fed up with being stuck at the house after having my tonsils removed 11 days earlier that I had to get out on Christmas morning. I took a short hike at a city park I had not been to since they added a bunch of concrete walking paths. I hate paved paths and luckily they put the path on the other side of the creek and left the dirt path that had been there for over 20 years alone.

There are at least 2 small cave shelters in the bluffs overlooking the creek, it was wet and nasty so I didn't venture up to them as it was a steep climb, here's some picks of them:

Where I took my break at, you can see my walking stick against the limestone in the back middle of the picture:

It was a nice trip, got to use my new wool pullover from GFA- I like it quite a bit, kept me nice and warm. Thanks for looking.

Looks beautiful! I love places like that, I could wonder and site see all day. Great stress reliever to get out and enjoy places like that. Great pics thank you for sharing.

Site revisited this morning

Since I hit the same place today and actually made it up to the little rock shelters, I figured I'd update the thread with new pictures:

This larger shelter could probably fit about 4 people, the small one looks like only a single person could sleep in it.

The water in the 2 oxbows of the creek is nice and clear (I think the carp make the main creek muddy as there has always been a fair amount of them in this part of the creek):

Some of the mustard plants were already putting up flowers:

I harvested some of the mustard, wild green onions (they may be garlic chives, as they were pretty pungent with an onion/garlic smell to them), and some cleavers:

Figured I'd cut up the mustard and onions to go with some potatoes, cabbage, and corned beef with seasoning:

Nice little trip this morning, that stuff is starting to smell good after 5 hours in the crock pot. :4:
