slow match

[carnivor way]

i made my self a slow match yesterday . i had been meaning to for a long time. they are real easy a little cotton rope or braided cotton string , and a metal tub,stuff the rope or braide through the tub light the end on fire to get a good char going ( you mite have to blow on it some) then pull the smoldering end back into the tub a little bit . so it will smother & go out & you are in. i have seen a few in other threads here on bcusa & thought they would be neat , but wow!

if you have yet to try one with your flint & steel , you are missing out ! these little jewels are the bomb diggity !

i push about a quarter inch of the rope out . once you catch a spark from your flint & steel , blow on it a bit & you have a nice ember.
