I recently acquired a team leader survivor so why not do a little review.

My first impressions of the knife were mixed. I liked how sharp it was, how comfortable it felt in the hand and the thin flat grind. I really didn't like how lightweight it was, didn't inspire much confidence just holding it and the sheath is kinda cheesy.

Here is the knife and sheath. Sorry for the lousy pic.

I'm not sure the thickness of the blade(calipers broke). It's definetly thinner than I'm used to, here's a pic of the blade flexing.

The saw works great. Didn't take much time to saw through this tree stump.

It worked excellently(is that a word? lol) for making trap parts. Even though I use sawback knives frequently I still got myself a couple times with it.

I made good enough shavings with it(skill I need to work on).

Impressions after using: The saw worked great, the thin blade is an awesome slicer. Taught me not to judge a knife before I use it. It won't be replacing my Randall anytime soon but I'm more than happy to add it to my stable of survival knives.

Thanks for sharing. I have the regular Team Leader version and I love it as a general use camp knife. I heard the saw on this model throws a massive amount of sparks off firesteel.

I have the SOG seal pup but haven't seen this model yet. Thanks for the preview!

Is it China made? Seems like all the SOG line is anymore.

Good Review.

Thanks. I'm not sure where it's made. It doesn't indicate on the box anywhere, but it does have USA on the blade, of course that doesn't really mean anything.

cool looking knife! I guess you wouldn't be able to baton with it though...

shouldn't have to much trouble with batoning... I baton with my rapala bait knife, and while the serrations on the spine do chew up your batoning stick a little bit, it still works... I imagine the saw back on this knife would perform about the same...

Last SOGS I bought(been least 3 or 4 years) that were fixed blades were made in Japan. Honestly not handled too many sense, I have some folders I'm pretty happy with. But price wise think there are better options. That one actually looks like it'd be pretty handy with the saw back(I do like that on some knives). The tang being larger than the scales would bug me, but looks like it'd be easy to do your own scales on.
