I just recieved a Spyderco Sharpmaker after a friend of mine suggested it and all I can say is WOW! I have tried several systems and have been using with good results a Japanese wetstone, but after skimming the manual I was supprised how fast and how sharp I could get my knives with the Spyderco system. If you struggle with knife sharpening I would suggest giving this system a try, I think you will be pleasantly supprised!

I really like mine. I did find that the diamond stones are a must when sharpening cheap stainless steel. I start with the diamonds and go through the steps just like they tell you to. It speeds up the process.:42:

It amazed me that somehting that is $50 give or take does that good of a job as well. It is not perfect, and there are better systems, but it has done a fine job on everything from a SAK to a Henckel Chef's knife for me. Just keep the stones clean.

After seeing mine work on his Benchmade, my Dad bought one. That is saying something right there.

some people will frown on this system because it's not the pure way to sharpen a knife or does not teach proper technique or learning water stone methods. Whatever! It works and for a majority of folks it's enough to touch up their blades back to hair popping sharp.

I have a buddy who makes knives and he uses his sharpmaker on everything. His blades are the sharpest I have ever cared to touch! All on a sharpmaker.

If you like it, master it then use it! :)
