I've been working through some ideas for carrying water, cooking, etc. I've used and love my USGI canteen and cup, but have been looking at the Crusader system, and of course coming up with my own, i.e., water bottle (like a Naglene) and nested cup, billy/zebra pot, etc. I love the idea of boiling water in a canteen or bottle if I needed to, simply from a multipurpose standpoint, and so it needs to be metal.

I don't have one, but I like Klean Kanteens. While scouring the 'net, I found Neo Vas. Actual store website is below.

Price is right, and they sell totes too. Next paycheck, and I'm trying the 40 oz. There are obvious differences in construction, but still close to the Klean Kanteens.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Perhaps look around for a WWII USGI stainless steel canteen? They also had aluminimum ones as well. I found one in a thrift shop ($2.00), one in an antiques mall ($5.00) and asked if they had any in an older Army/Navy store ($15.00). Average cost was $7.00 each. They even had replacement corks for the caps in the Army/Navy store.

Edit: The 40 oz. Lifeline Green ss bottle "appears to me" to be on a par with the KK - fits in the GSI mug and costs about $9.00 locally.

i picked up a lifline green bottle the other day at the thrift store for 75 cents, used it for boiling water today too, works pretty good.

Those look exactly like klean kanteens. Looks like a good deal. I may order one to compare it to my klean kanteen.
