My most recent arrow I sealed, fletched, nocked and pointed (the shaft was from a bundle of cedar shafts I bought from SG):

In my self-made hip quiver, of course:):

Tiny trade point/broadhead thingy I made from a bucksaw tooth:

Mostly straight fletchings with a tiny bit of twist, and a self nock:

Comments and helpful advice welcome:)

Nice job Trekon. Your arrows are looking good. The self nock looks fragile there. You might want to reinforce it. Just whip the shaft right in front of the cut. Just a little something extra to help prevent it from splitting.

For the next ones you do, you can add a piece of hardwood, bone or horn to reenforce the nock. Cut a groove perpendicular to the string groove that is deeper than what you will cut for the nock. Glue your slice of wood, bone or horn in place. Once its dry and trimmed up, cut your nock and you're good to go.

Yeah I prefer to learn skills like this on my own in a fairly primitive way for preparedness' sake, also to save moolah.

But you're right, it's a lot of work!

I don't use a fletching jig either except on this last one I made a card out of cardstock with a 3/8" hole in the center with three cuts radiating from it where I want the feathers to go through...
