Went ice fishing with my parents today. Decided to leave all the fishing gear at home and just use the survival fishing kit that I have in my backpack. Worked out great!
I also got to put Hughewil's homemade knife through some tests that he asked me to do. It worked out really good, but I will continue to test it over the next few days
On to the pictures:

Yeah, great fishing but...
I'm fall in love with the knife :)

Cheers!

that's a cool day all around!

Is that the Purcell Trench Streamside grill? That was almost my choice before I went with the standard Packer.

your's looks very happy doing it's job, bro.

Slick knife. What do you carry it in? Where did you get that nifty spice kit from?

The spice tin is from Jas Townsend & Sons

The whole tin kit is from Jas Townsend & Sons. My mom got it for me a couple years ago for Xmas. I've had to fill the bottles a few times. LOL

Awesome video and I think I'm going to add that spice tin to my "list of things I want".

Thanks for sharing!

Just a thought on this set up. It will also work on streams that have branches or deadfall hanging over the water. Just make sure the sticks are lodged into the deadfall good enough to not be pulled into the water.

I will be trying it out later next year in the warmer weather

I just watched the video. I didn't fully grasp the coolness of the homemade fishing rig until I saw the marker rope waving on the moving stick...Well played bro.

Trying to juggle the camcorder, still camera, and the fishing kit was hard. I didn't realize I didn't take as many still shots of the set up. Thanks for watching the video brother

You have enough ice for ice fishing? I'm jealous of that! Oh, and the kit and knife are nice too...

Looker

Barely.. LOL.. We jumped the gun a little early this year, and the ice still likes to pop and crack under your feet, but it's about 6 inches thick now..

Haha the Bear Grylls bite of a raw fish that tastes like fish..... lmao.

I threw up in my mouth. Why on earth would you bite a raw fish when you had a perfectly good fire going!! I love it. Great success witht he fishing kit and love to see you out with mom and dad! Good stuff my friend.

It's actually something that I have been trying to do lately. Eating things out of the ordinary that I might come across in a true survival situation. I would rather throw up now trying it when I can go home and stay hydrated, then be in a situation and not know whether or not I was going to throw up. (obviously you don't want to dehydrate yourself more in a survival situation)

Might sound weird to some, but it makes sense to me. :D
