No really it's ok for this section. Work gave us this tin with a gas card inside for Christmas I guess. Gas card was nice but indefinitely use the tin! Although I think it's a bit big for a pack, could make a nice char cloth baking tin tho, whatcha think?

Vitamin water for scale

Turn that tin into a wood stove man. I can see the beginnings of a good sized squarish wood stove. A few holes in key places, an opening to feed it, maybe some bolts as legs. Some way to set pots on top and bam wood stove complete.

What kind of metal is it do ya know?

Looks good, I picked up some Fishermen's Friend cough drops the other day, I like that they don't have the logo stamped into the lid. Can never have enough tins like that I say.

I am thinking you could leave it as is with the bottom in tact and cut some holes around the base of the tin, cut a feed hole in the front. Make up some sort of pot holder that sets on top of the tin, like some steel wire (higher gauge stuff for thickness). Not sure if the tin being so large would be a major problem in how it burns though.

Not sure if the tin would stand up to the heat though, thats why I asked if anyone knows what kind of metal those tins are?

Or, you could just fill it with 22 cartridges and leave it on a shelf, handy for reaching up and grabbing a handful when you go out. ;)

To expand on the wood stove idea, I'm thinking it would make a nice size tent heater, think ammo can stove type. Closeable feed and air holes to control the burn, some soup can's for a chimney, nice flat surface on the top to cook.

I think it's aluminum, I'll see when i get back to my locker if it has a stamp on the bottom.

I'm also thinking more along the lines of a PSK or the like. I'll get a rubber seal to bondinsode the lid so it would be water tight......for the most part

It seems too profound to burn up for char cloth. And a first aid kit seems superfluous when I can buy FAK that are already packaged. I think I'll end up using it for a storage tin of some sort whether it be a PSK or what. And I understand pre-packaged FAK won't always have everything that I need, which is why supplemental items for the FAK may get stuffed in this thing.
