My wife's grandfather served as an aircraft mechanic in the Army air corps during WWII mainly in Africa and retired from the Air Force somewhere between Korea and Vietnam. When he retired he packed his dress uniform in a suitcase. Upon his death her mother gained "custody" of the case and after graduating college my wife got hold of it. My son joined ROTC this year and my wife thought he might be interested in seeing it and maybe showing it to his class so she got out the case. Until that day she never knew his fatigues were also in the suitcase. She didn't really hold any sentemental value in the fatigues just the dress uniform. She ended up giving the top to my son who wears it(proudly displaying his great grandfathers rank and name patches)as a jacket. Surprisingly she gave me the bottoms. Let me tell you, these things are in pristine condition, are comfortable as heck and seem pretty bombproof. They are a bit small in the waist but I can get them buttoned and they are relatively comfy. These pants have a good 15 years at least on me and are just as good now as then. I love 'em. Just wanted to share.

Right on Scott. Nothing like getting some old world gear that is still in pristine condition.

I have my grandfathers field jacket from his tour in WWII, he served in Africa, Italy and I do believe he did a bit of island hopping. I do not wear it but it fits me like it was made for me, guess my grandfather and I have the same build.

I have my grandfathers peacoat that he was issued when he joined teh navy in 1941. I wore it throughout the cold months as a teen but it must have shrunk because it doesn't fit me any more.
