Apparently a full trangia stove will cook four nice chops from a pork loin no problem. Good to know.

ive been looking at them there trangias. hows yours on weight? do you ever truck it around with fuel in it?

I like the utility of being able to just pup the cap on and be done.

Well its made of brass so its heavier than a pop can stove but way more durable. As far as the cap goes....I filled mine up last night 24hrs ago and placed it in the sink upside down untill I used it just now. Didnt leak a drop. I didnt think it would with that big O-ring in the lid, but I had to check before I threw it in my pack.
 
I used one all last year, mainly to boil water. I may have had some residual fuel in the canister, but I wouldn't trust filling it up and hiking or biking with it. Just my opinion. I built a foil windscreen to keep the flame even when needed. Never let me down on tour.
 
Per the Trangia FAQ - "Spiritburner takes 1dl and will burn approx 25min. Generally allow 0,5l spirits for cooking per person, per week in summertime"

One deciliter converts to a little less than 3.4 US ounces.
 
I bought a couple of the aluminum army trangia's with the german cook sets a while back. Just got some fuel last night (litre of methyl hydrate was like $4). One strike of the fire steel and it was lit. Boiled two litres of colder'ish water in around 12 mins I believe. really impressed with the thing.

I don't know why people complain about the weight of the windscreen and cook set. It's so bloody light!
