Trip with my boys

Sometimes, everything goes great. Today, the weather was good so I got some supplies together and took the little fellas to our woods hideout for lunch.

I've talked recently about my failure to prep. Today, nobody was screaming or freezing and I had a piece of softwood that we found on the hike in. This isn't 3x the prep, but it's better...

Boys lit it right up.

Yes.

There's a punky stump that we've started using to stash packs and I put my knife there so it isn't lost or played with...

Chow. Dehydrated "chicken" noodle with tuna and salmon.

Getting the soup on.

New spork. $0.19 at Goodwill + hacksaw+files

Oldest likes fire. This pack is one I found that somebody was getting rid of. I think it is crazy ugly but thought the "lots of pockets" thing would work for me. Maybe it would, but this one stinks so it isn't gonna make the cut.

Temps dropping with the sun. Time for some hot chocolate.

I've had this for years. It has ladled a sizable amount of ramen.
