Well getting ready to head out to winter camp with the boys. The troop leaves on Monday morning the 26th, and returns on the 31st. Headed out to East Texas, the boys will be working on skills and attending merit badge class's. They also will have an opportunity to attend the Mountain Man area, and the Indian village during the week. They'll also attend the winter Pow-Wow during the week. I'll post up after the new year....:50:

Can't wait to see the pics brother. Thanks for getting our youth to the woods.

Thank You for taking the time to prepare the next
leaders for our great country.

In the 15yrs of being involved in the Scouting program the
scouts told me thank you many times.

You know your time was well spent when you meet up with one of
the scouts several years after the got out of the program and they say

"I really appreciate all you things you taught me. When I was in scouts
I thought we were just camping and having fun. I use the things you taught me everyday."

Maybe the can test out some of the new gear they got for Christmas... Well if they did and not MW3 which I've heard you like to play AMS!!! :4:

Snows about knee deep in Texas isn't it? Thanks for taking time with your Troop. You're investment in their lives is time well spent. Have fun, be careful.
Donk.

Driving through Fort Worth tomorrow, down to San Antonio through the hill country the next day. I'll holler 'Howdy' on the way down! Good on ya' for teaching the boys what they probably wouldn't get a chance to otherwise. The Scouts wouldn't even be there without leadership......wish I could be there with you!

Well all made it back with 10 toes and 10 fingers.... Had eight boys go to winter camp, they where 8 of 2000. The weather was in the 30's at night and mid 50's during the day, no rain, couldn't believe that. Didn't have time to work on skills, they had merit badge classes during the morning and planned activities during the afternoon.
Had one young man turn 13 while we where there....Made him a dutch oven chocolate cake and made 13 fatwood candles to use. This could be the first time in history that a boy turned 13, had a dutch oven chocolate cake fatwood candles....LOL... he was very happy
Had a couple of boys working on fleshing out a hide, some worked on pioneering merit badge and even had one boy do his very first ever horseback ride....he was very happy also....
Here are a few pictures.....ALSO, like us on FaceBook (Troop 1880)

Good outing, good group to mentor.
The way I understand it,the Good Lord doesn't deduct days in the woods,if you are keeping good company.

Awesome, man. Glad those kids go you around.

It's great to see people are still taking the time to teach the next generation of bushcrafters..... public schools seem to only teach tree hugging and stupid instead of challenging our youth...

your doing a great service to our nation.

THANKYOU TO ALL WHO SERVE
