I put this here instead of the Az section in case anyone was coming into town. Most shows start the 27th or 28th of Jan and run until about the 12th or 13th of Feb.

What does the Gem Show have to do with Bushcraft. Well it can be a great place to get supplies. There are folks selling antler, leather mostly deer and elk seconds, flint, obsidian or any other stone for knapping by the ton if you want it. Some dealers sell knives or pretty much anything else you can think of. If your in the area and never been it can be definitely interesting. If anyone needs particulars just let me know

I haven't been in years, not since we left Las Cruces, but I remember it being a great place to spend a weekend.

Don't forget Quartzite. Plenty of leather, bone, knapping, antlers and old tools there also. Its the worlds largest gathering of RV's. Thousands of them all through the desert and when they leave the town of Quartzite go's back to sleep. I've been going there and the Tucson show for 30 years. Amazing stuff.

Are you going to make it to the shows Bob? If so, maybe I can make it when you're planning to be there and we can get together.
Since I live within 20 miles or so and the wife likes "Pretties" as she calls them we are there quite a bit. Let me know and we'll try to get together

My wife is checking out her work schedule as she wants to go also. We live about 75 miles away but I drive there several times a year for the VA Hospital.

Im gonna check it out this year. Im gettin really interested in knapping and i wanted to see what i can find this year. Would love to meet some bushcraft friends.

My wife has made the plan to go on Saturday the 28th. CactusBob, would you please let me know the specifics? If anybody else is going to be there on that day, maybe we could meet up for a bit, so let me know. We won't be staying late in the day as my wife has to work that evening in Mesa so we'll have to leave no later than 2:30. I plan to be there as early as it opens probably. I may make a trip to be there on another day, depending on what we see that Saturday and whatnot.

Is there anything special you are looking for or just looking. If you have a business license you can get into the wholesale only shows otherwise it would be the public shows. Knowing what your looking for I can try to give you a decent starting point

The wife will be looking for gems and beads for jewelry purposes. I'll be looking for leather, antler, and whatnot. Whatever else we find that's interesting also. No business license so we'l be stuck on the one side. Can you let me know where the show is located and what the hours are please? Thanks Bob.

I have been wanting to go to that show for years! Never have the funds though. Good luck to anyone that goes.

About the only place I have seen leather, antler, and whatnot all together is the Tucson Electric park show (TEP) they are located on Ajo Rd its the Kino Sports Complex on Google maps.
As for beads and such they do have some places that have a pretty good selection. That should hold true for this year as well.
One of the places with the most tools for any type of jewelry making is Kent Tools which is also at TEP.
TEP opens at 10:00 am on the 28th. Thats were we are planning to start at this year. I'll send you a pm with my cell number if you make it and want to meet up
