(Video) New Canteen Cup Stove

That is a great little stove. I like the thinner design of the tobacco tin compared to the round soda can stove. Very nice job.

What a great idea, I really think you are onto something! I like the thin profile and the fact that it covers the oval contour of the cup better that a round soda can stove.

Have you ever thought of adding some carbon felt to inside to prevent a fire if the stove tipped over?

Good job Reeper. How many holes and what size holes please?
Thanks, Slowanderer

I filled in 3 holes from that vid. If I was to make another which I will. I'd start with 15 holes with a #58 drill bit. I had 21 in it tonight But I'm thinking 15 might be a little better. If its not enough you can always add. I'm also finding you need to get a good prime on it to really heat up the metal. Once that happens it burns better than in the video.

I did put some felt in it tonight. It didn't burn as good and the felt will stay saturated. Just have to be careful. Maybe put 2 small rocks on the sides to keep from tipping over.

thanks, now if you want a faster boil time check out the version 2. Just has a little higher flames. And was also very very easy to make.

thanks for the test . I just wonder how's it working in extreme cold condition. If so , how much more alcohol you have to use ?

It was about 50 deg in the garage that night. The other night I filled it with 1oz and got a lot better burn. I also put a little pan under it to use as a primer pan. With the metal getting hotter the flame pattern was even better. Still working on trying to improve it. I think shape wise this was the best. But fuctional right now the one I made out of the Sardine crap can works better. But we'll see.
