Im sittin in my RV mindin my own bizness when i see this deer with a collar but no leash, following this lady who says she was out walking the trail when this deer nonchalantly came moisying along

My guess is that this deer was hangin in someones yard for coyote protection (LOTS A YOTES ROUND HERE) and eating grass etc and someone fed and tamed it, which is kinda sad for this little deer now

sucks for the deers sake. but thats pretty cool. itd be cool to have a deer hangin around.. my aunt/cousin raised a deer for a few years that had been injured in someway on there property lived in there garage for a little while with a dog until healthy, then just hung around

All I could think of when I saw the hand reaching for the deer was the scene where Ice Cube gets "owned" by a deer in front of his girl friend's children (Are We There Yet?) !:18::4:

By the way, nice pics and thanks for sharing them! Hopefully someone makes some effort to get that deer to a "petting zoo" or something. It would be a shame for someone to shoot it during an open season when it's obvious that deer has no clue as to the "natural order" of things. We've slaughtered steer and hogs that weren't that tame! I know it would still "eat okay", but it certainly wouldn't be much of a sport hunt. Kind of a little more like grocery shopping.;)

That's pretty cool. A friend of my dads used to have a several pet pet deer back in the late 80's earlier 90's. And by several I mean he had a barn yard full of them with really tall fence keeping them in. Not sure what happened to them, most likely butchered for eats.

Guy I worked with had a young buck. He found it as an orphaned baby while hunting (late fawn). Took it home and let it live in the woods behind his house. It would jump in his truck and ride into town. Fish and Game nailed him over 'keeping a wild animal', but he protested on the lack of restraints on the deer. Short story, it wound up on an elk farm.

That's really cool.. Hopefully it will find a "home" and be safe from hunting grounds

Yeah I woulda been in Fat Bastard mode; "Get in muh bellly!!! I'm higher in the food chain than you!" Lmao. Neat.

I am also curious how do deer deter coyotes? Considering yotes will eat deer, that kinda confuses me.

What i ment was they (deer) hang around town and in peoples yards etc to avoid the yotes which tend to stay a little more on the outskirts of town

my aunt has a place in eastern washington. she started feeding the deer that would graze in her yard. a couple became a few which became several. they would break into the back porch to get to the food. a couple even came inside the house. last we talked about them i think she had stopped feeding them due to some poacher/hunters taking shots at them in her yard.

Sad.
I'm hoping some well meaning friend hung that red collar on it to "protect" it from hunters. Kinda hard to get an orange vest on a deer. :p I trust they weren't keeping it tethered to a tree somewhere. Problem is, if they don't have complete control over that young-un, it will eventually outgrow the collar. Then what?
I agree with those who suggest it go to a farm/zoo somewhere.
