Inspired by the "what are you best at"
What is your best bit. Pick one thing that is either still going strong, or your favourite or what ever? What is the one thing you always come back to?

Honestly I have to say nothing as of yet I have made really really stands out. My last whip was very good but it wasn't made for me.

So the one thing I have to say I always come back to is my full length leather trench coat. It's actually been in the local paper, Although that picture was "illegally" taken off me visiting a tobacconists.
With hidden pockets for gear and a weighty 4kg on it's own, with pure satin lining.

It gets used every day summer or winter, though it does get quite hot in summer I still deal with it.
It is one of the first things I made for myself back when I did leather work professionally.

I have used it as a pillow, coat, picnic spread, water barrier and blanket.

I know you guys like pictures so here is one, I don't even have one of me wearing it for some reason.

My best creation so far is this guy. I did have help though.

Aside from him I'm most proud of my recent creation...my plainsman boots

That is a killer jacket BTW. Must have been a heck of a project.
I also like your library organization. Looks just like mine.

My leatherwork is by no means professional but I am very happy with the knife and machete sheaths I make in Brazil. I am also very happy with the performance of my modified machete.

10 inch Tramontina modified to 9.5 inch Bowie.

I have very definite ideas about a proper sheath and I'm happy I can get leather to do what I want and not rot in the process.

Nice leather craft Malcolm C!! What make is the knife, I am totally digging the scales?
It's a Busse C.A.B.S. I received for my birthday in September from my wife. She's a good one; I think I'll keep her (the wife that is -- heck, I'll be keeping the knife as well).

I'm diggin' that spear SemperFiHunter. Did you forge that?

SN001, it's not forged, I cut it out of a piece of sheet metal with a torch. Shaped with a grinder and hand files.
Here's a pic.

I did attempt to heat treat it by quenching it in oil. Not sure how effective that was though.

The shaft I made from a hickory tree that I chopped and cured myself.

I have GOT to get a drawknife!

Thanks for the interest.

This is my latest file knife and sheath. It's my personal carry for now. Turned out nice and the heat treat was spot on. Pretty much a culmination of everything I know about knife design, blade shaping, heat treating and sheath work.
