Where to buy bulk wax?

I got a big block of wax and a block of beeswax at one of those craft stores (Michael's or Hobby Lobby, can't remember which). Wasn't exactly cheap though. I'll shop the net next time.

If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area they sell it in slabs. About 1ft. by 3ft. Don't remember the price though.

Hobby Lobby sells a 10lb slab of parafin wax. Last I looked it was around $17.00 iirc. If you're looking for beeswax than start with local bee keeepers. They will probably be the best bargain for you.

If you just wan't generic wax for firestarters I buy crayons and old candles at yardsales and thrift stores. For fire starters cheap discount store candles can be bought and melted down. If you want to make candles then pay for the quality stuff.

If you want beeswax for making candle tins, firestarters, waterproofing leather etc you can buy the wax rings that go under toilets. Most are 100% beeswax and a couple of dollars at the hardware store.

I wish I had Beekeepers around here.... I think our area suffered a massive die off of bee hives... because the Beekeepers dont sell thier local hunny at the farmers market any more. I am in the same boat as some of the the others .... no beekeeper to buy wax from.

Most of the toilet rings are synthetic wax, now. Very few of them will be bee's wax and could give off some gases and such that you wouldn't be happy with.

All of the toilet rings that I have had the displeasure of dealing with were very soft, SLIGHTLY harder than vaseline. They may not all be like this but the ones I used sure as hades weren't beeswax.
