Winters been pretty off and on so far but i have managed to get out on numerous hikes where i live ,,,which is here,,
This was a couple of wks ago as i was heading out ,,,,,taken just above my place.
This was the trail for that day,,,deer trail traversing the mountainside.
At the time there was still some bare ground and fall color.
A few views of the woods i was hiking thru. There aren't any established trails, just deer trails or bushwhack.
Plenty of old mans beard. So i decided to grab some for tinder,
There were plenty of animals around. Cougar, Lynx, Pine Marten, Elk, rabbit
and deer
It was time to have lunch and i was approaching an aspen clearing so settled in for an hour or so.
I had brought my flint and steel kit with me today so went about getting the beard , birch bark etc together.
I was using the Bush Buddy today so put some Bark in the Buddy and once i got a flame just transferred it into the stove.
It was a beautiful day,,sipping tea, relaxing in the snow and looking off into the mnts. By the time i got finished it was time to start heading down the mnt as darkness was near.
A couple of days later i was in my local town about 45 mins away and visiting a friend talking bushcraft etc. This was just a nice shot of the view from his place looking out the west arm of Kootenay Lake. Its just a nice shot.
Hope you all get time in the woods this winter.
