Wolverine ; Chasing the Phantom

I watched in on netflix a while back. Really neat animal. they choose a direction they want to go and just go. If it takes them over the peak of a mountain in the dead of winter... no big deal...they just do it. They kind of make honey badgers look like a bunch of sissies. Any thing that can run a grizzly or a pack of wolves off a kill is a bad dude.

Their mission is admirable.

From a Film to a Mission:
I didn’t merely want to put the species on the radar, I want to create a place for them in the hearts of the public. I want people to fall in love with them as characters, as individuals. Though this film will have a broadcast life through Nature and National Geographic Channel International, it’s the outreach I am most excited about. We are using the film in community venues to raise awareness about wolverines at a critical time -- they are being petitioned for protection under the Endangered Species Act this coming winter. We can’t save a species if people don’t care about it and it’s my greatest hope that this film will do its part to help them garner a few new friends.

I saw the show last night, PBS's "Nature" I believe. Interesting how they were able to get a female to give birth in captivity. She died right after giving birth though. The accomplishment was deemed to be just a hard as raising Pandas to reproduce in captivity.

I don't feel too bad now, not ever having seen one in the wild, even though I live less than 40 miles from the highest population in the Lower 48. Not counting traps and cameras, one biologist has been studying them for 30 years, and only seen FOUR running wild.
 
Yeah they're definitely not to be messed with. I believe it said they even take down moose:eek: for something that's only thirty pounds that's quite impressive.
 
Darn...I thought you were talking about the boots..after wearing some for four days the soles started peeling off.
