I thought it would be interesting make a thread where you could put up pics and info on your EDC...At least in my head it was a good idea :33: So, I'll go first!

001.jpg

Okay, the hat(and watch and belt, naturally) technically doesn't count but I always have it on and neither does the phone...And I almost never have it on :44: Aside from that...

Leatherman. Obviously. The original model that I...permanently borrowed from my father :18: It's just too often used to not carry, plus it's kind of an emergency thing if a horse's shoe gets loose on the trail, or tangled in wire. So, it's handy plus a safety thing a lot of the time.

Mini Bic Lighter(gotta love that size, btw): Aside from survival reasons of fire, it functions as a light often, for thawing out locks, and a billion and three other things that you always need/use fire for. Matches are awesome for survival, but for carrying and using outside of creating an actual fire, a lighter of whatever sort is better. IMO.

BHK Bushcrafter: I'm not a huge fan of folding knives, no matter how strong they are, they're still weaker than a fixed blade and I've seen too many break to fully trust abusing them. And, I use and abuse my knives. Note it has a rangerband on the sheath. Just because it doesn't add any weight or take up any room. May come in handy for whatever.

Case Hooked Folder: Not sure of the exact model, could look it up, but my Father gave it to me. Like I said, I don't rather folders over fixed blades, but I admit they have their place. Especially with this one that the shape of the blade makes cutting around horses or OFF of horses much more safe since it lacks a tip and you can slide the spine along the horse and between the whatever it is that it may be tangled in, or is stuck on it, etc. It's not used a lot and is more of a safety measure so it of course is great to have when you need it.

Keys: Probably not a lot of uses for the keys themselves(any input here, guys?) but they're hooked to a carbiner, so...

And last but not least the bandana! As anyone who works outside or especially as a cowboy(I admit I try and shun that name simply because it sounds cheesy) they are a freaking lifesaver. I forget it about as much as I do my knife, which is to say, never. And yes, it goes around my neck 1) Pull up over face when COLD and windy, or just use it as a scarf around your neck anyhow 2) Pull up over face when working in the hay loft, or just when there is dust period 3) Bandage (and that happens a lot) 4) Training equipment (of course, not in most jobs that didn't involve horses...)....And I won't list all the bushcrafty/survival purposes it'd fulfill.

So there we have it! What do you carry, and does it have specific reasons outside of the obvious and/or the survival reasons?

xj35s I like the idea of the wire nut as a handle for the steel. simple cheap fast easy, I will have to use that one.

^^^ You must have some huge pockets and strong leg muscles to hump all that about every day.
actually it isn't as much as it sounds like this is what I on me minus my phone . I have to have strong legs just to carry my lard butt around :D The only time I notice the weight is at work the radio and keys get heavy we have 2.2 million sq.ft of occupied space plus mechanical rooms abandoned areas etc over 50 acres . Most of the time I am pushing a rubbermaid cart full of tools and parts, and sometimes a sewer machine too.

went back and took a picture of my phone I didn't feel like emptying my pockets again . So I put my pocket kit in the pic for size referance

My edc give or take a few things:)
7961b414.jpg

The sp101 is new. Used to be Glock 19 and will probably get switched out. The Glock now rides in my Sitka.
Take out a few things that gets thrown in the Sitka and it looks likes this.
5f82e6b2.jpg

A lot changes depending on what I have goin on and what mood I'm in. I wear a flashlight and leatherman at work and always have them close in vehicle or Sitka but don't wear them on my person much any more.

now where did I put that picture of the dryer lint I carry with me in my pocket..... :) just kidding. On work days I carry a murse, that contains a SAK, lunch, a thremos of coffee, FAK, bunker size fire steel, ( think I am trying to make up for something) a small nano flash light attached to the draw string on inside of my murse to find things inside it in the dark. A 3 AAA size cheap led brinkman flashlight, a tiny bit of para cord cause Ii get bored and want to learn new knots at work, and a metal baby spoon. oh and a pencil. God only know what kind of crap i will have on me on a weekend. Could be a flask of whiskey and a kitchen pass to the woods. Or it could be a diaper bag full of stuff to take my angle on an adventure. Dang I love that little girl!

My whole work truck is a pretty well equipped "EDC"...it's a pretty well equipped blacksmith shop on wheels. I can't think of much that I don't have in there. I do a lot of country driving so I carry extra clothes, blanket and candle in a can in winter...though with the way the weather has been the blanket and candle aren't in there now. It seems that the truck only breaks down in remote areas.

The most used emergency equipment has been the cell phone and credit card.

I guess this is similar to most people but here's the EDC.
1. Cotton Bandanna
2. Folding knife
3. Mini light of some type
4. Firesteel hung by enough para cord to complete a bowdrill set.
Of course this is just in the pockets. I usually carry a EDC Bad in my car. Different than a prep bag or a B.O.B.
