Here we go. Hosted this for several years, will continue to for the foreseeable future. Same campground as always, Hanna in the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota.

It's been going on for several years now, and even if nobody else shows, I go by myself. Sometimes one or two other people show up and it makes for some very interesting conversation around the campfire. If you're able to show, you're welcome to come.

As far as what its like when you attend, a bit of an overused term these days, but if you know you know. Depends on how many people show up. Totally changes the dynamic based on how many people are there. There's been more than once it's just been me going and someone else managed to show up and we've had some very deep conversations and made incredibly lasting friendships. Rewarding. At the same time when there's been a lot of people that showed up, completely different dynamic very fun at times, you all get the drift. I'm as genuine as soul as they come.

Whoever shows up is welcome, and I stand by that. And my goldador will be along with me, as much oxytocin and amphetamines as she is.

Sometime, when I am properly motivated, I'm just going to create a thread for links to all of the previous Hanna Opens. That way, any of you they've never been can check out all the previous photos, discussion etc. Not feeling that motivated at the moment, so consequently I am just letting this post stand and I'm putting it out there.

The Open is open for spring of 2026. If you want to and can attend feel free. If you can't no worries.

I appreciate the invite, I am in the same boat as black 5, school is winding down and the boss doesn't like us gone during May. I have 2 or 3 years left before I retire for the final time then I will make it up for one. Enjoy the conversation on here. Again thanks for thinking of me. Merry Christmas to you and everyone.

I have no way of predicting solar cycles or solar flares, but when I've went up there recently, like within the last couple of years, had some great northern lights. Looking forward to reconnecting with some folks I've met before, and meeting some in person that I've only known on here. And if nobody shows up because life intervenes, then it's just me and the doggo having some wonderful dirt time.

Y'all are welcome. However many folks show up, I'll find a way to figure it out. I understand the campground regulations well, I know what sites are available, and I'm a lot more fun than most of your co-workers for those of you still working. And I have confirmation that I'm pretty fun amongst those that have left the work environment also. Don't be afraid of an occasional deep conversation. Because frankly, that's who I am. I just tend to bring it out in people for some reason.

I am fully in love with downhill skiing season right now, but out in front of that I am totally looking forward to camping out in the second weekend in May. If you show up, you show up. If you don't, no worries.

It's a bit of an ongoing thing, twice a year come hell or high water.

This is a possibility for me, depending how well the daughter does in track. If she isn’t making Nationals I could be free that weekend
Depending on your life situation, you're more than welcome to come out. Glad to have you if you can make it.

Maybe. Now that I back on here I might be able to work it out. The last year or so kinda went wrong .
Glad to have you if you can make it and I understand completely. Been a ride for me too, along with several others.

Failure, isn't final unless one decides it is. Life is simply learning the multitude of ways that things don't work and having fun along the way.

Weekend bump! We're about a month out.

Still a going concern. Whomever shows up, y'all show. If not, me and my actual dog remaining will attend absolutely. Recently had my oldest dog passed away, bit of baggage with that. That said, the show goes on completely. I have a younger dog that she is going to be 3 in the middle of july, and she will attend. Again. She has fetched atalatl darts, not as I liked but she did an amazing job nonetheless.

I've been a bit submerged for a while with the death of my oldest and first dog, but I am coming up for air so to speak. I have also had many Life changes besides that, and I think many of you understand. Most of us on here are a bit older as people would say, or at least we tend to think in that respect.

The show goes on, I have my days off from work confirmed, and I'm going to do my best to be up there Thursday evening to make sure to secure the campsites for whenever people show up on Friday or a bit after that.

Whenever I say if you can make the drive out here you are welcome, I genuinely mean that. Where I live is literally less than a hundred miles from the geographic center of the United states.

Certain repeat offenders as far as visiting me are incredibly and always welcome. Anybody new that's willing to truck out to this island of trees in the Northern Great plains, you're welcome too. At least once.

If it's in line with who you are, come on back.

Doors are open, come on in if you can find your way.
