Some of us have seen "On the Scout"s belt kit video... maybe it was posted in the scout rifle thread?...
Anyway, it gave me the idea of an "out back" belt kit. Something to wear when I'm messing around out back shoving brush around, cutting trees, brush hogging, shooting... no bush crafting or fire building. But rather some items that could be useful that I don't otherwise carry.

Here's what I came up with. Which of course is subject to change.

Currently I have a Ruger Security-Six in the holster. The first handgun I purchased after turning 21 and used to be my father's.
A HD knife made by I think @kcardwel .
A water bottle and cup. I never carry water out back, but I have the setup and it seemed like a good place to put it. It might come in handy, if only to rinse off my hands.
And a pouch I bought from a vendor here... Swedish I think. It holds about half a bandana, a quick clot thing with a strap built into it, a tin with: bandaides, one of those Victorniox Swiss cards with the tweezers and whatnot, a little pry tool with a couple screwdriver ends, and a small tin with five rounds of 357 in case I need to top off the gun.

The gear seems fairly light and well balanced. And like the video, there is room for a heavier coat under it as it is to be worn over your clothing and not under it.
I can easily swap out things, like a machete for the knife. Or add another pouch with brew kit in it if I feel like spending some time out back just sitting. Add a hatchet... I plan on tying a couple pieces of paracord on the belt to keep the holster from sliding around when I take it off and put it back on. Everything else stays put.

I haven't seen what other firearms fit the holster yet, but nothing bigger than the 4" 357. That fits perfectly. And it seemed like a good all around choice for anything I might encounter. I just blindly ordered it off Fleabay based on some Glocks it was said to fit. A blem, so only fifty bucks. I had tried to get a hold of Triple K, because I had a question about measuring the belt, too, but they do not appear keen on answering questions. Which is why I had to punch another hole in the belt. The information I got from Midway USA's Q&A was apparently incorrect. Plenty of room to grow, lol.
I had tried a single ring belt, the kind you tie a knot in to hold it in place, but that could not support the weight. I'll leave that sitting with my oil skin watch coat. It's perfect for that.

Anyone else wear a belt kit for chores around your place?

I wear Fjallraven Vidda Pro pants daily (unless it’s just too hot in the summer). I have 7 or 8 pair and I love them bc they’re tough and n have a ton of pockets which I use to distribute my daily carry items.

I have no idea why, but a setup like yours has never occurred to me. Years back I did put together a bushcraft belt setup but didn’t like it. I’ll have to check out the old gear storage shelves and see what I can piece together, this seems like a great way to have what I need as I work around the property

Utility belt, I need a dedicated belt just to keep my pants up. If I want to carry anything else, I wear another belt. What belt I use depends on what I am going to carry.
These additional belts that go on the outside of your clothes, so it does not matter what you are wearing, seem to make sense.
I think the bat belt is when you start adding stuff to the belt, holding your trousers up.

Looks like you've nailed it my friend. Useful gear at hand but not a full survival system.

I've probably watched On The Scouts belt kit video 5 times. And I set one up for exactly the uses you described, working around my place so I have a handgun, knife and a few extras. I also had a sizing mystery on the belt, without a jacket I'm on the last notch.

Leather and iron just have an old school appeal.

Sweet!
Very nice setup and pic.

Cobbled together, so definitely not classy but holds the essentials. Knife (interchangeable), gloves bc I always have them on me, pistol and a Maxpedition pouch with small first aid stuff (sanitizer, bandaids, compress, tape) a lighter and a speedloader with extra ammo. I thought I had a cool leather pouch but it turns out it didn’t have a belt attachment. Probably won’t add the canteen unless I plan on being back on the woods

@Siddhartha , good idea with the gloves.
I generally have a dedicated pair of leather gloves pretty much all over the place, but a pair for the belt is on my list.

In the two years I’ve been establishing this homestead I’ve come to the realization that I pretty much always need a pair of gloves. I used to just use the cheap coated utility gloves but those wear out really fast and don’t really offer a lot of protection. Now all of my leather gloves get a paracord loop, and then put on an
S-biner which gets clipped to my belt loop.

I get my gloves at the co-op. Leather deerskin. They used to be pretty cheap for what they are.
Nice dexterity.

I was wondering how you attached them.
I'll probably just tie a piece of shock cord around the belt loose enough to stuff them into.

I like that. I've been losing gloves, one at a time, my entire life.

@LongChinJon at first I was a lot like PAcanis and tried to have a pair gloves everywhere (and still kinda do). The S-biner makes it super handy to have them on me all the time without having to stuff them in a pocket somewhere and then have to dig them out when I need them. Plus I don’t stash them in a coat or hoody pocket and then leave that hanging on the back of a chair and then find myself without the gloves (anymore lol)

I've got a pair of Jersey gloves in the pocket of any jacket I would wear below 55F.
Not exactly work gloves, but handy and cheap.

And dang if I can't find my shock cord. Nor the bag of plastic things I always keep with it.
I found all kinds of other neat stuff though 🤣

I keep a pack of jersey gloves in my shop, and I’ve got one pair of leather gloves that are a size bigger than normal with a pair of jerseys inside—those are my winter work gloves

lol you can never have too many gloves

I might have more gloves than underwear 🤣
Nope. Can never have too many 👍
