Coffee and tea outdoors

You mentioned not carrying a mirror because other things can be used for signaling. Just a thought, I carry a mirror, magnifying and a small sewing kit in my "first aid" kit. I've never needed to signal, don't really sew in the field and I don't usually use a magnifying glass for fire but I use all three digging out splinters and thorns.
I have the tweezers in the SAK. I have little sewing kits, but for a day hike I've never had to use it, so i took it out of all day kits. A lot of the areas I'm in you can't use a magnifying glass for fire ignition, the tree canopy it to dense. This was to show what can be carried in a belt rig. I don't usually carry all that stuff for a few hours or a day hike.

Nice peaceful setting . Very interesting to see your belt kit, it packs a load of (nice) stuf. I'm more the backpack person myself but enjoyed seeing this.
Thank you. I dont use a belt kit much at all anymore myself. I prefer a bottle bag kit, haversack, or a small pack. This was more a demonstration.

Me too...I'm in the woods and/or I'm building a fire before or after the sun is high enough for a magnifying glass. My 66 year old eyes sometimes need it to see what I'm doing though. LOL

Don't tell anybody but I sometimes go on short day hikes (we used to call them "walks") without really carrying anything other than a knife which I always have.

There are still times when I head out for a hike with what's on my belt and a bottle of water. Just a plain ole bottle of water from the store.

Lunchbreak during a dayhike in Sweden this summer.
Choose for the TomShoo alcohol stove setup in the Firebox Nano to save some time compared to making a woods fire.

Mora Kansbol did the knife chores this day.

That looks like some darn fine bread yer eat'in. Nothing better than a loaf of crusty whole grain and some good cheese.

Darn fine-looking spot ya found to stop for a break. Looks like possible good trout water.

Thanks, I'm pretty lucky to have that and quite a few of the feeder streams just outside my backyard.

They get some pretty nice Browns in the river. Its best fished from a boat or canoe as it is not very wadable and the banks are pretty thick with brush.

When I first looked at your pic I thought that looks like a nice river to float in a canoe. Wide enough to fly-cast, too. I'm near the UP and most of the streams up here are so brush-choked that they are almost impossible to fly fish.

I do like that ti French press for making coffee. I have a couple that are similar. My new favorite is a small 2 cup stainless percolator. It's heavy compared to the ti, but there is something relaxing about watching coffee percolate on top of a stove while you're waiting to have a cup.
Percolaters are nice. But I like to nest things and use bottle bag kits. The top on that little press can be taken apart (didn't know that when I bought it) and sit almost flat. So it's easy to use with bottle bags.

Had some coffee outdoors this morning with Grim, brought the Fiskars X5, Mora Robust and Firebox Nano in my pack.

Hard to find dry wood...
chopped of a branch and split it with the X5

Such a pleasure to split wood with this little guy

Even curls and shaving are made surprisingly easy with it...

Got my fire going with some birchbark, but my wood was very damp, didn't burn well...

So I spend the whole time making shavings to keep the fire going... the Nora Robust worked just a bit quicker for that :D
