"A 208-year-old publication that farmers, gardeners and others keen to predict the weather have relied on for guidance will be publishing for the final time.

Farmers' Almanac said Thursday that its 2026 edition will be its last, citing the growing financial challenges of producing and distributing the book in today's “chaotic media environment.” Access to the online version will cease next month.

The Maine-based publication, not to be confused with the even older Old Farmer’s Almanac in neighboring New Hampshire, was first printed in 1818. For centuries it's used a secret formula based on sunspots, planetary positions and lunar cycles to generate long-range weather forecasts."

Kind of sad to see it go.

Most magazines died a long time ago. Surprised to see it was still around. “Sad to see it go”, but, did you have a subscription?

OK, you’re off the hook. I’m merely pointing out so many people lament the loss of something, but they don’t want to support it by, you know, purchasing the product. I see this all the time.

As a matter of fact you could buy a subscription to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. That way it was mailed to your door. They had nice calendars too, hardback bound copies of previous years, and my favorite also 100 and 200 year re-prints of the earliest issues.

My apologies for wasting your time. I'll just crawl back in my hole.

LOL! No, I’m jes’ sayin’. Magazines aren’t dead, they just smell like it. I don’t like it either, but things change and not always for the better.

Earlier tonight, my wife realized the Farmers Almanac is calling it quits after 208 years. But the Old Farmers Almanac is still continuing on. Which one do you all read? I hadn't realized there were two different publications until she said something. Then I looked it up and sure enough, there are/were two of them! And the one I remember my dad always reading was the Old Farmers Almanac. The covers look very different.

Jon.

We always got The Old Farmers Almanac.

I can remember when the local bank gave away condensed versions every years. Makes good bathroom reading
