Just for fun. Curious how ya'll would respond to this.

You are on deserted island. No hope for rescue, other than self rescue. You've settled in. You have clothes you were wearing. No EDC. You have 3 items from this list. Which three would you choose?
1. Large heavy duty canvas oil skin tarp
2. Sturdy light tarp.
3. Milspec rain pincho with woobie
4. 4 inch full tang fixed blade knife
5. Campers axe
6. Machete
7. 100 ft 550 paracord
8. Roll of 36 tarred bankline
9. Bic lighter
10. Ferro rod
11. 2 qt stainless steel cook pot with lid
12. 2 gt stainless steel canteen with 25 ounce SS cup and lid

I think mine would be heavy duty oilskin tarp, 4 inch knife , and canteen with lid.

What 3 would you choose?

For my deserted island, I pick Porters Island on Lake Superior, just north of Copper Harbor, and for my three items, I'd pick a light tarp, knife, bic.

Porters Island: https://www.google.com/maps/@47.472...try=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDUwMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw==

It's maybe 80 feet between the end of the island and Hunters Point park. It's also only a couple feet deep between the two at the deepest, and most of it is a foot or less, and it's fairly easily walked, especially if you find yourself a suitable piece of driftwood to use as a walking stick. Then it's an easy walk down the south shore trail for less than a mile back to town. If it's warm enough, it's a few hundred yard swim across a pretty sheltered bay. Late summer, the water temp in the lake proper is still cold, but the top three feet in the bay are generally warm enough to make that swim without too much difficulty.

You said deserted island, which it is. It maybe fails the "no hope of rescue" bit, because it probably wouldn't be too hard to get someone's attention, but, eh...I'm not going out that far away from civilization these days anyway.

The poncho with woobie (2 for 1), the axe, the ferro stick. I can make water holders out of bamboo or wood, the poncho can catch rainwater, I can do much of what I can do with a knife using the axe, but not vice versa, and I can get a fire started easily and keep coals so I can use the ferro rod occasionally. I have a quick shelter, can build a shelter, can keep warm, make tools, etc. Even use the poncho as an expedient pot to collect water.

If 4 items the canteen, if 5 the knife.

I'll have to put some thought into this, but just for fun, if I have clothes on... I have my EDC. 😉

1, 6, 12.

You usually find trash at the waters edge so scavenging would be in order.
