Now in Bend, the small, but busy town is totally bikeable. No better way to get to work, run errands, etc than by bike. IMO
I enjoy a short bikeable commute so much more than sitting in the vehicle. I still see way more bike racks on vehicles, than people riding. They are missing out.

Family of four, we replace car driving most days by riding our two tandems.

Riding in to work last week. Such a great way to start and finish the day. About 7.5 miles one way to my office.

Usually only drive one day a week to take my boys to their private cello lessons. Getting two cellos on a bike is difficult. lol plus they are expensive instruments.

Or if it’s weekend and we are going to the range, or taking the camper out.

If it is icy out, I ride the public bus. It has been free for the last couple of years.

I’ve been living it up driving the wife’s electric car that we charge from our solar panels, and riding my bike. (I never stopped riding since I was a kid)

Sure my truck is a gas guzzler. But we won’t discuss that here. Haha but the nearest gas station to my house is a 20 minute drive.

Riding weather is here.... I get to fill my Harley up, and not my Super Duty.... Premium is running $4.39 /gal around here so a full tank for $15 or $16 is better than a full tank for $120... Unless there's rain in the forecast....

And as far as Preps go, I took the savings from my slightly damp Harley ride over to the LGS, and came home with 500 rds each of .22 LR and .22 WMR.... Aaaaaaaand... My Harleys are both kinda old.... I think they'll both be running fine, post-EMP....

And further preps missions.... I've been recruiting My old Sgt Major and 1st Sgt to come on upta the county.... sent them both a zillow search of all the enticing real estate bargains in my Local TAOR..... Both these guys are good to go, and good in a tight spot..... I cheated a whole lot and sent them a ton of Ice Fishing pics from some of the local lakes.....

Oh yeah.... I added a coupla fixed blades to the cache.... ( #2 4 inch Letter opener and a USMC KaBar for the Stacked leather aficionados and a no 23 5 inch Gamemaster with green micarta single finger grip...

Still hovering around 2.30 euros per liter of diesel here in France, which is around 10 dollar 40 per US gallon. Prices of almost everything are skyrocketing as well. Mrs Fschwep did a major shopping run yesterday to, amongst other things, a large hypermarket in urbanistan. Apart from her neccessary glutenfree products and 6 pounds of coffee, there were no special things in her full shopping cart. No meat, no alcoholic beverages, not even cat food. She ticked off close to 400 euros at the checkout counter. Note that we are a family of just two humans and a handful of animals, and she bought vefry little for the latter. Of course many of the products were a bit less expensive than in small supermarkets close to us (I won't use the word 'cheap' anymore...), which compensated for the extra mileage she had to drive. In practice this situation means that we, like almost everybody, think long and hard about how we can make vehicle trips as effective as possible by combining visits to shops, medical visits to urban areas and whatnot.
Some 15 percent of French gas stations are now empty at any given moment - especially those with slightly lower prices in busy urban areas.

We are having construction jobs done in and around out house, fortunately at prices that were agreed before the Iran situation. A year into the future it will likely be impossible to do them, financially. So, Just in Time, by pure chance.

Looks like Colonial is back up and running, crisis averted for now atleast. Looks like last night's speech had the desired effect (maybe), West Texas Intermediate is north of $112 a bbl, $4 more than Brent. So, if the intent was to drive money to US oil producers, seems that it worked. Probably alot of corks being popped in Midland and Odessa right now. How that plays out for the rest of us remains to be seen.
 
Still $4.59 in Albany, Oregon. Costco and couple others are little cheaper if you're a member there but cost of Costco membership doesn't justify the reduction in gas price in my opinion, at least not for my specific situation, since I don't have a large freezer or even a walk-in pantry to buy food in bulk 🙄
