Why are you going into the preparedness section and sowing discontent? Why?

I am seriously confused. I was browsing the thread about the American Dream. I see comment after comment from names that were prominent about wanting the button to ignore a thread. And yet, here you are!

I mean, really now. Some of you guys pissed and moaned so much the mods gave you the button, and yet time after time, there you are. I don't get it. Are you just wanting to cause trouble? Looking for attention? What compels you to do this? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I browse through a lot of threads. It's winter and I don't spend much time outside, so I spend time here. There are threads and posts I have no interest in or don't agree with. I don't crap all over them.

Why do some of you feel the need to crap on someone else's threads?

Thats just how people are man, they can't just keep things to themselves, especially if they have nothing nice to say. For me, I just visit my favorite threads, browse a few new ones, mind my own then carry on with my day. I've never understood the desire to want to talk down to people, try to sound experienced and educated, and then piss and moan when people give it back to you. However, most people ive met in the real world that act that way, are only doing so because theyre miserable and need others to be the same way for some sort of comfort. In my opinion there are a few users that should probably be removed from the site as they always are sewing discontent and take every opportunity to start an argument over nothing. And about twice as many could use a lesson in people skills and learning how to convey their message through text properly so they dont seem like a jackwagon. But then again, some people think thats an admirable trait. In short, I think its all a front for people to act tough, because thats what we are right? A website full of tough outdoorsmen who dont have time for the touchy feely stuff.

Why do you feel the need to bring it up here? For a second time?

I let my supporter membership lapse and lost the ability to ignore threads and forums, and I woke up in a pissy mood today with a low tolerance for BS. Decided to throw away $22 just to keep myself out of trouble. Shoot me, I know it's just terrible.

The fact that it's a paid feature is really what's sinister.

And for the record, when people post ridiculous and inane crap I think it's more their fault for spouting nonsense than it is mine for not being able to look away from the stupidity of it all

I know this may be a touchy subject, but why pay for a feature just so you can "ignore" a thread? If I dont want to see a thread, I simply dont read it anymore...

The ignore feature is a bandaid on a gash. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away, it allows it to fester. If you look, how many of the people who regularly post topics not allowed ever post anything related to the goal of the forum. So there's that.
Even this thread just brings a venue for those who prefer to argue about things then post an outing or some bushcraft practice.

Part Low impulse control, Part wanting to cause trouble, part hoping someone catches the Ban Hammer would be my guess.

Absolutely. I've gotten two ppl banned from here because they openly admitted to doing just that; going into threads to start sh!t to get ppl banned.

Because some people 100% believe that they are right and everyone that disagrees, even slightly, are 100% wrong and must be denegrated because of their wrongfulness and their wrongful beliefs are hokum, conspiracy theories, etc etc.

john i have asked myself this countless times. why complain about stuff that you can choose to ignore. it is like food.......... don't eat stuff that you don't like. if you eat it anyway you will wind up Bitc$$$$ about it.
you make the choice. when your wife says something that you disagree with, do you beat her up for it or do you just shake your head and go about your business? the older i get it seems the less i understand.
BTW any good pie recipes?

Ever tried looking away from a car wreck?
Yea, pretty easy to do actually. I learned a long time ago that a wreck on the side of the road doesnt have an effect on my life. My main concern is navigating past the wreck and avoiding all the rubbernecking dumbasses that aren't paying attention...

Justification for their existens?
Pulling others down to feel better oneself?
Just being an abnoxious prick?
Inflated ego?
Bad manners?

Take our pick....

Yes, soak your raisins in Jamaican rum overnight.
Add plenty of real cinnamon to your diced apples.
Add the rum, after drainig your raisins, to the doug.
Cover a baking form with the dough, add apples and raisins, cover the pie with a lid of doug...

Great applepie!!

Oh!
And eat warm with fresh whipped cream and a bit of vanilla icecream.

Interesting to me that when I was young being told that you aren't capable of doing something was a challenge to make it come to fruition. Now it is just a crutch to explain your inability to live within your means.

I guess I'm happy that I apparently won the birth year lottery and am genuinely sorry for you youngsters that despite apparently making all the right choices are still denied the "dream".

In my opinion as long as you justify your failures instead of learning from them you probably won't ever attain the "dream".

It’s the internet, everyone is an expert and has an expert opinion.

I must be like the only human with the ability to ignore threads and people without the need to have an ignore button.

I’d like to think just because they post something I think is stupid in one spot, they could post something worthwhile elsewhere

Sinister?

You can be a member for free. Read, learn, share, etc for zero dollars. Run a free ad blocker and you don't even see the ads.

The site owners offer an inexpensive way to go ad free and get a few extra features.

That's sinister?

You obviously see value in this board but somehow, you're entitled to get it for free. This site didn't just happen. Money was invested with no guarantee of return. People worked to make it happen. The ongoing server and software costs have to be paid. This is a business with overhead and hopefully some profit to make it worthwhile to keep it running.
