Post you pics or videos of you 5 natural tinders here.
Light 5 Natural Tinders with a Fire Steel
trying to capture the pictures was a little tricky in the wind. If anyone has any questions on the tinder please free to ask me, my paper ID tags were catching fire pretty fast.

Might as well put my mouth to work and submit to the class since I do most of it already but under the class.

I always try to find one new Tinder that I wouldn’t have thought about on my walking excursions today. It was golden Rod.

Next ate the old stand bys
Beeswax’s and jute, chaga, a pine stub I kicked off the tree and birch bark

Cattail didn’t work because it’s probably still too wet

@wisconsinwalter Bushclass basic needs to be completed first before starting intermediate classes if you are doing them for certification.

There is no order that the tasks need to be done in the different Levels. But, Basic need to be complete before you do Intermediate and Intermediate needs to be complete before you start Advanced.

My five were:

1. stalks of an unknown dead bush from last season
2. cattail fluff
3. lichen
4. dried leaves
5. birch bark

Everything lit with a few strikes of the rod, even the lichen which i wasn't sure would be a winner. i had to do the cattails twice since the first batch burned so quickly i didn't have time to snap a photo! Birch is ubiquitous around here. I've lit fires using bark with a match before, but with just sparks it was a little tricky until i figured out how to make curls with my knife on the inner side. after that it was easy-peasy, and burned a long time. i started with one small piece and then added additional pieces when the first one caught.I think this will be my go-to in the future.
