Jorgensen Utility Knife $7.99

How does this steel compare to Mora?

Very interesting offering. I've wished for a full tang Mora forever. And could never figure out why they didn't just spend the extra dollar on widening the rat tail? Seems like it would make it competitive with many more knives. Not being full tang is it's only limitation. Probably the sharpest knives I own as well.

I have one of their chisel knives. It's been pretty decent so far but I haven't abused it to see how far it can be pushed.

Edit: Both styles of knives are listed as full tang.

So I ended up buying a second one of these a couple months ago because I didn’t know if the first one I got was a fluke as in being to good to be true and it wasn’t the 2nd was just as good as the first. Fast forward now both have been used regularly and through some pretty heavy use the steel isn’t bad and in real world usage it’s on par with the carbon steel moras that are in its price range.

So mine showed up today. It seems just as nice as the chisel version I have. The spine could be a little nicer but I guess I'll clean it up myself. The chisel version had a fairly rough spine but nothing like this knife.

Same here.
Mine came in today, the spine is clearly Punched, but it took about 5 minutes and some backed sandpaper to smooth it out and give me a spine that strikes a ferro rod.
Same as a MORA 511.
this knife is a LOT heavier than a 511. You can tell that there is a lot more metal in the handle, seriously feel it.

Hi, for the savings I think I’ll stick with the Mora made in Sweden. I know what I’m getting, just my 2 cents, regards, Mike

this. i saw the same amazon deal for jorgensen. i never get chinese food from p.f.chang so it stands to reason to get a swedish knife that is truly made by swedes. the jorgensen’s spine looks worrisome. how far in does the fault-line reach, me wonders. i have too many satisfying mora knife experiences to switch.

I will clean up that edge in a few days to find out... The chisel knife edge wasn't nearly as bad.

I’ve used and abused the 2 I bought and so far have given no reason to be concerned.

Well, I just got one of the four that ordered. I actually used a Mora Companion to open the shipping box so I had that it my hand as I pulled the Jorgenson out. The blade shapes are different but the general idea is the same. After having bad experiences with Chinese (PRC) steel I am and will likely always will be cautious about knives made in the PRC. For the price I will give these a try. If they are 80% of the knife the Mora Companion is than I suggest that these are a nice bargain.
