the Wasteland

Wasteland adjacent. I was looking at my empty can of coconut water, and noticed a few things.

Thick all steel construction
Thin top open/pull tab
Rimmed top lid assembly, like a can.

Can...can....can....can opener!

I fished my P-38 off my can opener and here I am.

It could be a small improvised cook pot, maybe part of a stove, and in this case it was a great small bucket to help me harvest my peppers!
 
Roaming the wasteland this afternoon, dove hunting and my youngest found this under a tree. Probably left by a turkey hunter, I’d guess. Nothing else around it at all.

Full lightweight camo suit, hood, gloves, jacket and pants. Looks in good shape. We’ll give it a wash and use it to hide from the wasteland ne’re-do-wells and sneak past the guards at the fuel depot.

you guys keep the focus on the fun and adventure rather than the illusion that gear is what matters.

there are several other videos on that channel that bushcrafters will like too.

I was pretty surprised by how much free, discarded, and lost stuff there is around here once I started looking.

I went mushroom hunting with my brother.

you guys find a lot of good stuff in the wasteland. i find a lot of useful stuff in the wastestream. thrift stores and garage sales. the stuff isn't free but it is often nearly so; like $1. and the selection is amazing. lots of warm clothes, regular clothes, backpacks/fanny packs/bags of all kinds, tools, kitchen cutlery, books, dvds, etc. and a shocking amount of it is brand new.
 
Went out to log anomalies by Larkspur yesterday with the dog... just terrible what happened down there, and the way those people stayed fused together like that.

Nothing was ambulatory, thank goodness. That's never pleasant.

But... a luxury! I found a piece of metal laying in the dead grass. Scrubbed off the grime and it works.
