Tinnitus

No cures that I am aware of.

Mine is mild, but still annoying.

Dont get blown up.

Wear earpro.

I find sleeping with a fan running/pointed at your head really helps at night.

Other then that, just gotta learn to tune it out.

If anyone knows better I'm all ears.

(Pun gleefully intended XD )

I'm guessing I got it about as loud as anybody and it is maddening at first.
After a while, you quit focusing on it and your body/spirit adapts and peace comes with it.
If I focus on it it is still deafening but weirdly it is something that can be ignored, after awhile.
I am grateful this is the only thorn in my side right now, so far. Things could be much worse.
Good luck and go easy on yourself.

I drink water, and try to focus on something else.
I've gotten pretty good at ignoring pain in my life.
It's the same thing I do when I have a migraine.
I've found that the biggest trigger for any of the ailments I've acquired over my life are usually attributed to dehydration.
I don't take meds for anything.

I think I read someone, somewhere say something about listening to music/similar on headphones/similar; the claim was it does more than distract from the ringing but it does something with the nerves?... Something about stimulating them which can get them to start functioning normally again was the jist of it, from what I recall.
No idea if there's any truth to it, other than I do occasionally have it pop up at random pretty loud in one ear or the other, if I listen to something or am in an area with lots of variable background noise it tends to fade away quickly-if it's quiet about it tends to stick around longer.....

Guess the time on the centerless grinder and the turret punch decided to haunt me LOL....
Best of luck!

I have occupational hearing loss. Hearing aids only make it more annoying but are supposed to help….according to the experts..
I use headphones, earbuds, movies/tv as background noise..etc…
Any ambient noise is good, a dehumidifier, air filter. I’ve gotten use to it for the most part but somedays I could beat my face into the wall and hope to pass out…
Pm me if you care..

I read something recently that said tinnitus was comparable to an amputee feeling phantom pains in the missing limb.
Your brain is sending out signals to a part of your hearing that isn't working anymore.

There are hearing aids that focus on reducing the ringing, either by white noise or apps you can listen to. But just having hearing aids in the first place can reduce the ringing, as your hearing will be focusing on what you have been missing.

Tinnitus is an early sign of hearing loss.
I've been living with it since when I was a teenager. I'm really looking forward to getting those hearing aids I just mentioned. Any relief will be welcome.

I have had it since my late teens. Started out like crickets chirping at night but has progressed to a constant shrill whining noise. My wife asks me why I always turn the TV on. It gets worse if I have had a lot of caffeine but I still drink coffee. The worst is being in a very quiet room or when I put hearing protection on-ear plugs or caps. Really annoying then but loud music, machinery and firearms are why it began so early and the horse is out of the barn on it. The goofy things I notice is that I can hear an owl outside hooting when I am in the house with windows shut but my wife can't hear it. Her hearing is getting worse but it is age related compared to mine from loud noise damage. My level of hearing loss is substantial for high frequency noises like phones and notification alarms like the high capacity water heaters at work when one of the two has a flame fail alarm. Staff tell me they hear an alarm but I can't hear it until I stand by the water heaters while they hear it outside of the mechanical room. At some point in the years ahead I will go get hearing aids but the audiologist told me a few years ago that my mid and low range hearing was still fairly decent so they told me to hold off on getting them. When I hunt with a firearm I use the ear plugs that have the noise dampening baffles which cut a shotgun blast down quite a bit. For recreational shooting I go all in with plugs and caps both.

Left ear is eeeeeeeee, but then sometimes it gets louder for no reason. Right ear makes a different noise more like the tone before the emergency broadcast system. I’m assuming that’s tinnitus.

I always have earplugs in my pocket now. Plugs and muffs shooting. The loud stuff is/was obviously bad, boom - eeeeeeee. The long duration of kinda loud stuff is the sneak attack.

Yup, "industrial fatique" here. Last checked in the 80's, around a 35% loss on left side, slightly less on right side. Constant high pitched tone, sometimes louder, but always there, both sides. Mostly I keep "background" noise on...music, tv, ham radio. At night I usually keep a somewhat noisy fan on, but I usually go to sleep pretty quickly. I'm hoping I can escape these earthly bonds without getting a hearing aid, but it is noticeably difficult these days, to understand all of the conversations on TV...my mid ranges are the worst. I can't imagine wearing one in my ear, though. I sweat easily and often, and believe that would be miserable.

I also think hearing aids are grossly overpriced, given the demand for them. No doubt Big Pharma is behind that. I've seen some that connect to your phone via bluetooth, so you can adjust the equalization, which seems to me to be the ideal option. I'd be looking at those if I ever decided to make the jump.

People greatly underestimate how much can be dealt with by water and a peaceful walk.

Tinnitus has been my constant companion for 40 years. It was difficult for many years and I tried a lot of different “cures”. Of course the most challenging time is during the night. Fans and white noise are great, but I tried something completely different to adjust. I started sleeping with earplugs. Being alone with my head noise took some getting use to, but ultimately my brain began to adapt. Sounds strange, but it works for me.

Take care and good luck!

Jeff

Any ideas on a remedy? This is driving me nutts.please help!
Ive been dealing with it in both ears for over 30 years.
it doesnt ever get better, but it will get worse.
Im sorry to tell you that, but its better to know the truth than have false hopes.

I have heard that a company is working on a sonic harmonic tone generating in-ear device that can be tuned to emit a counter tone that matches the tone you hear and cancel it out. I have no other info than that.

I got mine from the fact I was a F.O. in the Army. At least VA is covering all my bills now.

Dealt with it for 20 years or so, AKAIK there's no treatment for it. Caffeine and aspirin will make it worse, general stress seems to make it worse.
I will confirm the aspirin part.
I will also confirm that stress makes mine MUCH worse.
Last month when I was stressing over this house and the insurance, my heart was in constant AFib, my heart rate was in the 120's, and my ears were SCREAMING at me.
That was a really bad time for me.

I was told mine, as well as the migraines I get are the result of the multiple concussions I've suffered in my lifetime.
I guess taking too many shots to the head is no good for a fellow.
