Wood Spirits & Whittles

HH, I have a good-sized neoplasm in my brain. Had a seizure one Monday night, woke up Thursday in a hospital I had been flown to. Taking Keppra, an anti-seizure med. It can have varied emotional effects- takes a while to adapt. My own fault- what I thought were just odd anxiety issues for years were actually what are called "focal seizures." They had been changing, I planned on (finally) asking my doc about it at my next checkup.... Turns out, my degree from the University of Google School of Medicine wasn't worth sh*t...

Uhhh I don’t know how you guys do it, I followed a video and ended up with some junk. Some of my cuts were perfect and then bam i would mess it up. I said some choice words and know when im in over my head but i am gona continue to carve, hope i learns some patience from it but this turned out horrible.

Nothing wrong with that! Got to start somewhere! I like it! I’m glad you will stick with it! Its enjoyable no matter the turn out. I used to get frustrated as well but it kind of turn into a form of meditation as it required all my focus and life stresses were set aside.

Wow that’s a big difference, I hope I improve like you did. I like your carver and I’m gona have to get me some better tools.
Thanks! It’s a cool pocket carver slip joint made by flex cut. It carves well. Like @HillbillyHiker said its practice and repetition. Just enjoy the ride.

Hey guys, did anyone catch Sara Barraclough on the International association of woodcarvers the other day?

I noticed she uses a mixture of boiled linseed oil and odorless paint thinner as a sealer before painting. I may give this a try. I usually just use blo, let dry then paint.
